In this episode I am joined by Jaime, Johnny and Isaac. We start off with some headlines talking about our fellow Longhorn Kevin Durant. He keeps making some questionable decisions that have us questioning his character. We then talk about one of our favorites on the podcast, Elon Musk. Some news came out this week that he knocked up one of the CEO's of one of his companies. Jaime thinks he's just listening to his advice on the podcast and thinks all rich guys should leave it in. We then talk about another billionaire who is in trouble for sexual misconduct, Vince McMahon.

We give a recap of the Texas Cook'em High Steaks in Edinburg. We were very happy with our spot this year once again but again some of the cooks did not have it as good as us. Who has it better than us....nobody. I then give a recap of the results and we have one very good call but a disappointing day overall. Everyone forgets to bring an ice chest as we try to find ways to keep our meet, 80 water bottles cool and most importantly our beer. Johnny's tents don't survive the windy day. We talk about the new set up and how we enjoy the new location. Then we get into the SCA (Steak Cookoff Association) portion of the cookoff. As always Brett ran an A+ show but we bring our Mickey Mouse operation to the competition. Hear about the huge mistake we make that could have cost us some big money.

We continue to talk about the steak cookoff. Johnny has an idea to do away with all the meats and just make it a steak cookoff. We talk about the lack of steak cookoffs in South Texas and how it would look like if it was just a steak cookoff. We put our promoter hat on and talk about some changes that could be made in the future of this cookoff. We think that more backyard guys and joes could possibly compete if it was only a steak cookoff. We ask the questions to the joes to see what they think.

Johnny takes the show on the road once again as he makes a visit to Valentina's BBQ in Austin, Texas. Right away he is not impressed by the set up and port o potty bathroom. He also takes a look at the menu and once again not happy about it. His experience at Smoke Crafters BBQ in Mission Texas makes him question how this Austin eatery can be so popular if it doesn't even compare. I guess ignorance is bliss.

In this episode I am joined by Jaime, Hiram, and Eddie. We change things up a bit as we take the podcast to the back porch as we have a round table talk unscripted. We start by talking about the upcoming cookoff on the 4th of July weekend, the Texas Cook'em High Steaks in Edinburg. We talk a little steak cooking fresh off a night time practice as well as how we plan to dress and walk up if we get a call. You don't score till you score. We are a little late on the breaking news on the new headliner for the music lineup. The guys share some advice on staying cool in the 100+ weather.

We took a little trip to Smoke Crafters as Hiram got to visit for the first time. The owner Jaime took really good care of us and even had his bartender invent a new drink inspired by the Ready Set BBQ podcast crew. I tried pork belly burnt ends for the first time and wow. New project to try in the3 backyard. We also got to go back to GW BBQ and as always enjoyed the bbq. Hiram doesn't get to try the Friend Brisket so maybe one day.

Hiram and I go on a little beach vacation with the family at South Padre Island. Hiram compares the beach to beaches on LA and gives some advice to the tourists. We talk about some of the restaurants at SPI. Some pretty good and some not so good. The guys also compare Whataburger and Burger King. You'll be surprised by the answers.

In this episode I am joined by Jaime and Hiram. We start off with some local headlines as some local resident decided to take an ambulance for a joyride. She must have gotten the good stuff from the hospital as she makes this bold decision to skip an Uber and opt for the ambulance. Some more local news as I give an review of Whataburger's new Bacon Blue Cheese hamburger. As usual it doesn't quite hit as expected. Jaime talks about his time at Whataburger as the bun wetter. We then talk about the big news in the NFL as Zack Wilson becomes famous for hunting cougars. Hiram thinks there's a double standard towards females in the media. We close out the headlines with Captain America Derrick Jeter right before his new doc comes out. The whole gift basket thing gets exposed. Jaime adds Jeter to this list of people that are garbage.

We then talk about some BBQ as my time in Houston over the weekend makes me questions if there are too many BBQ joints opening up in Texas. Hiram gives his perspective living in California. One of our favorite local BBQ joints, Smoke Crafters gifts us some breakfast sausage to try out and review on the podcast. Needless to say the jury is not out on this one as it gets the full RSB approval. Jaime has a suggestion for a new menu item to add to the menu featuring the breakfast sausage. Hiram wants to know why we left a toothpick in the steak at the Texas Cook'em High Steaks Cookoff in Edinburg. Jaime and I try our best to justify our blunder.

We then switch back to talking about the NFL and the looming season. Hector's favorite player Baker Mayfield leads off the conversation with his new team the Carolina Panther's. We can't decide which crappy QB is better for that team. The Houston Texans make their way back into the podcast as always as they pay off 30 women to make the stink of Deshaun go away. Jaime finds a way to throw Elon and Bezos under the bus as his billionaire bashing continues. We ask the question of is Lamar Jackson a good quarterback and what is going to happen to Jimmy G. We end the podcast with some Dallas Cowboys as Jaime does not seem confident that they are going to the Super Bowl this year.
