We are back to the skeleton crew with as Jaime and Hiram join me to discuss some of the latest headlines. It's football season as we prepare to watch week 1 of college football. We talk about the weekend's games and then dive into some NFL talk with a surprising trade by the Cowboys to pick up Trey Lance from the Niners. I ask the guys who their GOAT quarterback is after an interview with Joe Montana reveals his own best QB. We also get into some boxing and celebrity fights coming up between traditional and nontraditional fighters.

BBQ Time - I tell the guys about a new twist on surf and turf that I tried out. I saw this on Jess Pryles's page and used all of her products for this. I tried the new Hardcore Carnivore sausage links with shrimp on a skewer seasoned with her Hardcore Carnivore seasoning. Super fan Eddie likes what I did and did his own level 100 twist on this dish. Totally one upped me on this one. Jaime gives some props to Juniors as we tried their fajitas for the first time. Solid selection with very little effort and no added seasoning. Hiram tells us about a Gucci party he attends in the Hills for the second year in a row. You'll have to tune in to hear about the spread they had along with live music and views of the Hollywood sign in the hills. I talk about practicing some ribs as the American Royal cookoff nears.

Hiram tells us about the writers' strike and how we probably won't get episodes of our new shows in the fall. Taylor Swift is coming to the AMC theaters in October so now everyone can watch the Eras concert. We've got Labor Day Weekend coming up. We talk a little bit about the acceptable distance for someone to smell you when you are wearing cologne.

BBQ Time - Hiram keeps the cold sear trend going as he cold sears a Tomahawk steak that one of his buddies just happened to have in the fridge. He adds a little twist to the cooking because of the size of the steak. I give another Tik Tok tip that I find about searing your steak at the end. The guys want to know if it is more important to have grill grates or a nice crust on a steak. We talk about HEB barbecue once again as we get a thumbs up from one of our Joes that goes and tries out a beef rib.

Hiram tells us about a visit to Marina del Rey where he has some Gucci sushi and gets started way too early in the day. We give a little shout out to my Dad as we remember his birthday today and the reason why we started barbecuing in the first place. It could be in his backyard or at Texas Longhorn tailgates. My dad comes up with a way to cook a chicken in an innovative way before there were Tik Tok videos.

BBQ Time - We cook up some beef ribs for the Texas game. Eric puts a little twist on them as he adds some apple habanero barbecue sauce. Game changer. We also cook up some mollejas and as Hiram how often they eat them in LA. No Surprise at the answer he gives us. Jaime still can't comprehend how vegans don't want to eat meat. Hiram tries to explain how they value living animals but some are cool with eating fish because fish are dumb and it's ok to eat dumb animals. Our buddy Jorge cooks a suckling whole pig and sends us pics. That leads to a whole conversation about cooking and eating animals with their face showing.

Shout out to our friends at Chillin N Grillin on their 3rd place call at the local cookoff. We then talk about plans to have a taquiza for our sisters birthday in a few weeks. Hiram wants some new boots to sport in LA. Jaime tries to convince him to get something exotic like endangered baby albino alligator skins. We think he should peacock as he is in LA.
