
The Guard's Ties to the Civil War

In this episode, Bill, Ty and Steve each specifically talk about their ancestral ties to the Civil War and briefly cover how to research your own Civil War ties. Ty specifically covers the 34th Ohio Volunteer Infantry which wears an Americanized zouave uniform while later being mounted on mules. Bill covers the 32nd Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry which also has a unique hospital marker near the Wheatfield on Gettysburg National Military Park. Steve goes into depth about the 153rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, a nine months regiment that is a part of the infamous XI Corps during Chancellorsville and Gettysburg.
