Queerability
Across Rainbows
Queerability is an empowering podcast exploring LGBTQ+ identity, culture, mental health, relationships, and more.
Hosts Nick and Ellena have raw, honest conversations about what it means to be queer in today's world. Through personal stories and thoughtful discussion, they tackle topics like coming out, dating and relationships, discrimination, activism, self-care, and finding community.
Nick and Ellena believe that being LGBTQ+ comes with superpowers - resilience in the face of adversity, empathy and compassion for others, courage to live authentically, and freedom to define oneself. They explore how embracing one's queer identity can be a source of strength, confidence, and inner power.
At times, Nick and Ellena are joined by inspirational queer guests from diverse backgrounds, providing perspectives on navigating life as an LGBTQ+ person. They discuss issues relevant to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, and questioning individuals.
Queerability sends an uplifting message that no matter your sexuality or gender, you have the power to thrive as your authentic self. By building a thoughtful, inclusive community, the podcast provides support and encourages queer self-love.
Join Nick and Ellena on Queerability as they discuss mental health, relationships, pop culture, current events, and more through an unapologetically queer lens. Discover the superpowers that come with living life out and being proud.

Father Bernard Lynch: A Priest on Trial (pt. 1)
Queerability
03/31/22 • 39 min
Welcome back to Queerability!
Today, we are honoured to have a living LGBTQ+ legend and activist, Father Bernard Lynch.
For seven years Bernard studied philosophy and theology in preparation for ordination to priesthood at the African Missions College twenty-six miles from Belfast. This happened during the inception of the troubles in Northern Ireland. After ordination I worked with the Bemba people for two years in North Central Zambia before going to the U.S.A.
Bernard has an interdisciplinary doctorate in counselling psychology and theology from Fordham University and New York Theological Seminary. For fifteen successive years, Bernard was Theological Consultant to the Board of Directors of Dignity New York - an organization for Lesbian, Gay, Transgendered and Bisexual Catholics and their friends - and founded the AIDS/HIV Ministry of Dignity New York in 1982, which continues its work to the present day.
For over ten years, he was a member of the Mayor of New York's voluntary Task Force on HIV/AIDS, and was the only Roman Catholic priest to testify before the City Council for the successful passage of Civil Rights legislation for the LGBT community in 1986. Bernard continued my work with HIV/AIDS in London until 2011. Presently I am available on an advisory capacity for HIV/AIDS work.
He have been profiled three times on Channel Four.
In February 1993, his book, 'A Priest on Trial' was published by Bloomsbury Press. Since then he has published articles on Spirituality and Sexuality in different magazines, as well as participating in TV and Radio programmes on similar subjects.
Bernard, have been interviewed many times by Sky News and the BBC. He participated in Protest the Pope (You Tube Father Bernard Lynch). His book 'If It Wasn't Love, Sex, Death and God' was published by Circle Books in 2012. Zeinab Badawi interviewed him for HARDTALK for the BBC World Service.
He continue to work as priest and psychotherapist especially in areas of social justice and oppression. For ten years, he was chair of Camden LGBT Forum. In 2015, Bernard became the first representative of the Irish LGBT community to City Hall for the London Saint Patrick's Day Parade.
He participated in the Irish Marriage Referendum by augmenting the 'Take the Boat to Vote' in London. He also participated in organising the victory party to celebrate a world first in LGBT equality by the Irish people on May 22nd 2015.
January 2017 brought the culmination of a Life Dream when Bernard married his husband Billy Desmond on the Wild Atlantic Coast near where Bernard was born. The occasion was honoured by the President of Ireland giving us a private audience. New York City Council honoured my Life Work by presenting me with a Proclamation on January 27th the day of our wedding.
This is part one of a two part series.

TIN: The Sounds of Tin
Queerability
11/19/21 • 62 min
Today's guest is, TIN. He is a queer Australian pop singer songwriter blazing his way through the UK. Inspired by the boy bands and girl groups of the noughties, TIN loves to create pop music that gives you all the feels. TIN’s lyrics are often about his misadventures as an outlandish gay creative just wanting to inspire and move people.
Prior to the pandemic, TIN toured Europe with over 20 shows in six different countries, during which time was sponsored by international underwear brand, Andrew Christian. He has since released cover music videos for two of his childhood favourites - Viva Forever by the Spice Girls and Bye Bye Bye by ‘NSync. 2021 marks his first original release in three years to celebrate Pride month with his dance track, Firm. This will be the lead of several original tracks for his upcoming EP, Sex Cologne and Cigarettes which he has dubbed his ‘stories of being a f**k boy in pop music form’.
"I like to write about real life things: experiences that everyone has, but sometimes don't have a means to express. I find great songs maintain a balance of being unique and relatable all at the same time and when people hear this, a connection is made. I strive to have people connect through my music, whether it be with me or with one another"
In this episode we discuss:
- TIN's coming out story and getting into music
- Queer music and artists
- the barriers lgbtq+ musicians face
- what does representation mean in for queer people in music
- TIN's future and new music releases
My Take away:
TIN is a very passionate artist and a big advocate for LGBTQ+ musicians. He has strong views about the current talent with the LGBTQ+ community. He discusses his concerns regarding talented performers who are losing opportunities due to a mediocre mindset, as well as performers who hold themselves back because they down want to be labelled as a 'queer artist'. Which makes question; "why are we still trying to conform to what is expected of us (LGBTQ+ community) rather than what we want to do?".

Welcome to this weeks episode of Queerability
Today's episode we are looking into non-binary and the Drag King scene. Our guest today, is a legendary drag performer Oedipussi Rex.
Oedipussi Rex is truly the stuff of legend- i.e, Loud, chaotic and wildly inconsistent. The Beardiest of Drag Barbarians and all around hot mess, this hairy beast has been pillaging his way internationally across the land for longer that he is able to count, leaving piles of eco glitter, wool and the echoes of hardcore kazoo solos in his wake.
He is the creator of the monthly Cabaret Gameshow ‘Dragiators’, Scartist in residence at the RVT’s Pop Horror, and generally has a reputation for bringing acts of mythic proportions and creative facial hair to every stage he stomps haphazardly about on. Just don’t ask him too much about his Mum.
Epic or Tragic? You Decide!
In this episode we discuss:
- The queer metal scene
- Non-binary
- Drag king scene
