Problematic Women - AOC’s Bizarre Defense of Florida Trip Highlights Left’s Hypocrisy

AOC’s Bizarre Defense of Florida Trip Highlights Left’s Hypocrisy

01/06/22 • 34 min

Problematic Women

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, states like Florida have received a lot of criticism from the political left for not requiring endless masking or imposing stringent lockdowns. Yet Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis says, “If I had a dollar for every lockdown politician who decided to escape to Florida over the last two years, I’d be a pretty doggone wealthy man.”

DeSantis' remarks were made in response to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's recent trip to Florida over the Christmas holiday. National Review published photos of the Democrat congresswoman from New York sitting outside enjoying lunch with her boyfriend in Miami Beach, Florida.

Former Trump adviser Steve Cortes shared the photo on Twitter, writing, “If Leftists like AOC actually thought mandates and masking worked, they wouldn’t be frolicking in free FL.” He also took a jab at her boyfriend’s shoe choice, calling his sandals “hideous.”

How did the congresswoman respond?

“If Republicans are mad they can’t date me they can just say that instead of projecting their sexual frustrations onto my boyfriend’s feet,” she tweeted, adding, “Ya creepy weirdos.”

Ocasio-Cortez’s response left many scratching their heads.

A few days later, Ocasio-Cortez was again seen maskless at a drag bar in Miami.

Florida's Conservative Voice founder Brendon Leslie reported the incident, tweeting, "For those of you with zero sense of humor: the whole point of this post is to expose hypocrisy. We don’t actually care she’s maskless. We care she fear mongers about Florida but then has the audacity to vacation here.”

On this week’s edition of the “Problematic Women” podcast, we discuss Ocasio-Cortez’s actions and the troubling COVID-19 policies being promoted by the left.

Also on today’s show, we discuss the media’s reporting of Sen. Ted Cruz’s daughter and give a brief update on the new host of "The Bachelor." And as always, we crown our “Problematic Woman of the Week.”

It's Always Winter in Communist Countries, but Never Christmas

In his classic work “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” C.S. Lewis paints a picture of Narnia under the rule of the White Witch as a place where it is “always winter, but never Christmas.” Lewis used the imagery to describe the world under the influence of sin and death, but the analogy also proves a fitting description for nations struggling under communist rule.

This Christmas marks the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Soviet Union on Dec. 26, 1991. Sadly, millions of people across the globe still live under oppressive, totalitarian regimes in countries like Cuba and China.

Many young Americans today are advocates for communism and socialism because they aren't familiar with the history of communist nations, says Brenda Hafera, a senior policy analyst at The Heritage Foundation. (The Daily Signal is the news outlet of The Heritage Foundation.)

On today’s edition of the "Problematic Women" podcast, we discuss the bleak realities of communism and what should be done to educate the next generation on the realities of socialism.

Also on today’s show, we celebrate the holiday season with some Christmas trivia, plus we crown five of the most "Problematic Women” of 2021.

Kara Dansky Breaks Down Agenda of ‘Transgender’ Movement

The true agenda of what has become known as the “transgender movement” is to abolish sex, according to author and self-declared feminist Kara Dansky.

Dansky, author of the new book “The Abolition of Sex: How the ‘Transgender’ Agenda Harms Women and Girls,” not only takes issue with the objective to destroy the concept of sex, but also with the use of the term “transgender.”

The term “transgender” was invented, but the “word has no coherent meaning whatsoever,” Dansky says, adding that “every single person on the face of the planet, all 8 billion of us, are either female or male, and that’s it.”

Dansky joins “Problematic Women” podcast to discuss the history of the term “transgender” and what she thinks the movement’s ultimate objective might be.
