Feeling as though you're suffering in silence is perhaps one of the most common experiences after going through a loss. Silence and solitude might be exactly what you need in the earlier stages of your healing journey. And at some point, the silence or isolation may no longer support your healing.

In this episode, I share:

  • When silence and solitude are in service of our healing and
  • When silence and solitude can lead to our decline
  • Some simple tips for bringing "movement" and release to your body and being\

I thoroughly enjoyed today’s soulful conversation with Thérèse Cator. Thérèse is one of my teachers and mentors, and her work has guided me in walking the path of my own calling with more clarity and confidence...in being able to do the work beneath the work. To know her and share space with her is a gift.

In this episode, we discuss:

What led to her doing the powerful work she’s currently doing

What Embodied Healing is

The impact of colonialism and trauma on our bodies and how to reclaim our healing

Finding balance and rhythm as an entrepreneur, mom, wife, leader...

Honoring the soul's calling

And SO MUCH MORE!

More About Thérèse:

Thérèse Cator (she/her/hers) is the founder of Embodied Black Girl, an Embodiment Practitioner, Decolonial Leadership Coach and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in-training. She works at the intersection of spirit, somatics and social justice rooted in a decolonial lens.

Thérèse is devoted to guiding people of all backgrounds to untether from the colonial and cultural conditioning that create cultures of disconnection. She invites them to unmap their bodies from supremacy and transgenerational trauma and in the process unearth the innate power and gifts essential to weaving the new world.

Preparing For Pregnancy After Loss - Ep 37: Why Self-Love Is So Hard

Ep 37: Why Self-Love Is So Hard

Preparing For Pregnancy After Loss

play

02/20/22 • 68 min

Self-love is hard for most people. It isn’t a practice that’s encouraged in our culture. Instead, we’re continually fed messaging about what’s wrong with us and what we need to change to reach a certain standard.

Now, when you’ve gone through a loss or infertility diagnosis, self-love feels even more out of reach. And yet, it is THE single most important pathway to our healing and liberation.

This episode explores the ways in which we’ve been taught to disconnect ourselves from our own love, how this pattern shows up in different areas of our lives, including intimate relationships, and how to reclaim our connection with ourselves as a source of love and self-compassion.

**If today’s episode resonates with you, please share it with someone else you think might benefit from it. Your message just might be what they needed to receive today.

Preparing For Pregnancy After Loss - Ep 36: A New Look at the New Year

Ep 36: A New Look at the New Year

Preparing For Pregnancy After Loss

play

12/31/21 • 73 min

Welcome to 2022, beloved. How are you arriving?

Is it with excitement? Some anxiety? With rules about what you need to do to make this the best year yet?

We tend to feel that entering the New Year is like entering a magical portal where everything needs to now be new, better, and different. But growth and healing don’t operate that way. They move with a rhythm and cycle that may be different from the flip of a calendar from December to January. Knowing this removes the unnecessary pressure that impacts your well-being.

In this episode, I’ll help you to:

  • Unpack some of complex emotions that show up at the end of the year and the beginning of another
  • Understand how these emotions impact your goals for the new year and overall well-being
  • And explore practices that may better support your own rhythm so that you can walk this earth with a greater sense of freedom, ease, and grace

I’ve shared in previous episodes that my experience with my angel baby, Mateo, was so massively impactful that I could never capture our story in one single episode. Well, this one got pretty close! And I think that happened because I was being interviewed by someone else.

In this episode, I share:

My first pregnancy loss journey

My second pregnancy and being with my son in the NICU

Mateo’s transition—including both the pain and the beauty that it brought

What it means to be a Birth Warrior

And ways in which I support other Birth Warriors on their healing or pregnancy journey

Preparing For Pregnancy After Loss - Ep 32: What Might Be Missing in Your Fertility Care

I share a lot about the limitations of our conventional healthcare model. And so, what an absolute pleasure it was to sit and chat with Naturopathic Physician, Dr. Monique Mazza, and learn more about what our care should actually entail.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • What Naturopathic Medicine is and how it’s different from Allopathic Medicine (or what I refer to as the “conventional medicine” in the episode)
  • What might be happening in the body that could lead to infertility or loss
  • What testing you should ensure you’re having done to get to the root cause of those imbalances
  • And more!

Dr Mazza’s Bio: Dr. Mazza is a licensed Naturopathic physician with over 15 years of clinical experience. She began her medical career as an emergency medical technician for a volunteer fire department in New York. In addition to her education as a naturopathic primary care physician, Dr. Mazza has additional certifications in intravenous nutrient therapy, German biological medicine and biodynamic farming. Her current passion surrounds growing food as medicine at her home in Earthaven Ecovillage.

Preparing For Pregnancy After Loss - Ep 29: Mystical, Magical Experiences I've Had with My Angel Babies
play

08/17/21 • 39 min

I believe that we are spiritual beings expressed in physical bodies. It means that even after our babies have made their transition out of their physical bodies, they still exist in spirit.

A few months ago, I did a podcast episode reading excerpts from “Memories of Heaven” by Dr. Wayne Dyer (Ep 24). The book features stories from parents whose little ones had memories of being in heaven before they came here on Earth, including children who had made their transition prior due to a pregnancy loss, abortion, etc. I know, it’s wild! But there were too many accounts from parents all over the world to deny that babies are also spiritual beings who aren't limited by a physical death. And even after they make their transition, our connection with them remains.

In this episode, I share some of the beautiful and magical experiences I’ve had with my little ones. I hope this encourages you to keep the connection open with your baby and still feel their love through the many ways they might send you reminders that they’re still here.

With lots of love,

Natalee

Today’s episode is a loving heart-to-heart. Listen to it when you have space to process and work through some questions that may potentially be challenging. Key among them: What’s at the root of your desire for having children?

This isn’t to discourage you from wanting children. Children are beautiful. However, as you’re on this journey, I want you to be aware of who you are in the midst of it all.

Who or what might be influencing your desire? What’s at your heart of hearts? And what’s being impacted by something else that will still need healing even after your little one/s arrive.

It’s your awareness that leads to your liberation, healing, and empowerment. Wherever you are on your pregnancy journey, my desire is for you to be able to feel whole. I want you to be good!

Take your time with this one. And whatever comes up for you, I’m only an email ([email protected]) or Instagram message away.

Preparing For Pregnancy After Loss - Ep 26: Honoring Our Partners

Preparing For Pregnancy After Loss

06/19/21 • 32 min

Just as heavy emotions or painful memories might come up for you on Mother’s Day and other special occasions, the same might be the case for your partner this Fathers Day (and other special days). What I’ve noticed with fathers though, is that they tend to prioritize your needs over theirs. This may lead to them hiding any emotions that may come up for them to ensure that they’re protecting your emotions.

In this episode, I share tips on creating space for your partner and honoring them on Father’s Day (while finding the balance to tend to your needs as well). I also share a piece that I wrote for my husband 3 years ago on Father’s Day. It’s a way for me to honor him publicly because so much of his support and love towards me is done in the background. He’s the gentle warrior who has my back and helps to build my resilience as we move through this journey.

I hope you enjoy this episode. Sending love to you today and always!
