Filipino folklore is filled with tales of giants, but the Kapre looms over them all. Though this mischievous being, still very much alive in the beliefs of the region, can be dark and dangerous at times, it is normally considered to be good-humored and playful. Its characteristics are rooted firmly in the history of the region and, surprisingly, the traits of other giants. The Kapre may be the most well-known giant in modern Filipino lore, but is it the OG?
