#64 Simple Productivity Solutions With Amber Curtis
07/02/24 • 64 min
Have you ever thought to yourself, “Something must be wrong with me?” Everyone else seems to have their life figured out. They know how to balance work and marriage and kids and prayer and exercise, and I’m over here like a dumpster fire on rollerblades just trying not to light everyone else on fire!
If so, you are in good company! Being swamped, stretched too thin, and questioning your life choices is something I think most women can relate to. I know I can... But the truth is, there isn’t anything wrong with you. Just because that system, that planner, that diet, or that parenting method worked for "everyone" else and it didn’t solve all of your problems, doesn’t make you a failure.
In this episode I am joined by Amber Curtis. Amber is the founder of Solutions for Simplicity. She helps overwhelmed women maximize their time and energy for who and what they love. So they can do more, stress less, and be happier. Amber is a professor, productivity coach, and devoted mom of four.
Listen in as we talk about time - priorities - and energy... Most importantly, Amber and I are going to break down why that new system you were so excited to implement at your house for summer may not be working out at the moment. Newsflash... it isn't you!

#63 Forgive Yourself With Dr. Carron Silva
Did you know that according to the Mayo Clinic, letting go of grudges and bitterness can make way for improved health and peace of mind. Forgiveness can lead to:
- Healthier relationships.
- Improved mental health.
- Less anxiety, stress and hostility.
- Fewer symptoms of depression.
- Lower blood pressure.
- A stronger immune system.
- Improved heart health.
- Improved self-esteem.
And yet, while all of that sounds great, forgiveness isn’t easy. Staying angry feels safe. It feels justified. It feels necessary.
In this episode I want to take you deep into the realm of forgiveness with Dr. Carron Silva, who reminds us, that forgiveness is for you, and it that it isn’t done alone.
Carron shares that forgiveness is “relinquishing the right to hold someone else accountable... the right to justice.” Holding on to our anger and bitterness only keeps us prisoner and takes away our freedom to live from a place of peace. It disrupts our quest for beatitude.
Listen in this week to learn all about what makes forgiveness so difficult, and how you can start taking steps right now toward a more peaceful and prayerful life.

#65 Getting Comfortable With Failure with Amanda Rayhel
Do you struggle with putting yourself in uncomfortable circumstances, even when you know they are necessary?
Maybe you feel like you will be judged, you'll hinder your credibility if you don't have the right answer, or you'll look "stupid."
A few years back when I was still working in the classroom, I was asked to present to our diocese, a talk on getting comfortable with being uncomfortable in the classroom. Growing up as a self diagnosed perfectionist, I recognized the extreme anxiety in my students that emerged as a result of their discomfort for what they would deem as “failure.” This looked like not mastering something the first day they learned it. Getting a 98% instead of a 100%. Or, simply, not being the first to accomplish something or receive the most praise.
This observation went beyond my students. It wasn’t just them that struggled with not having all of the answers. I saw it in my coworkers too. Teachers who had an underlying fear that they might look stupid in front of their students if they tried something new and it didn’t work out, or they didn’t know the answer. Administrators who struggled with inner turmoil over doing the right thing because they knew they would have to endure the unending parent complaints no matter their decision.
And, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t struggle with a lot of these same insecurities as well.
In this episode I am joined by nurse, business owner, mental wellness advocate, and mom coach, Amanda Rayhel. She is going to breakdown how we can...
- learn to live peacefully in messy action
- ask for help, even when it's awkward
- embrace rejection
- get comfortable with being uncomfortable
- destress in a quick mom minute
