Leveraging Business Connections for Supply Chain Resilience

In this episode of interlinks we are going to be taking a look at how businesses can leverage the multiple connections they have with their supply chain partners to build success for the future as we emerge from the emergency phase of the pandemic and enter the endemic phase.

To discuss this crucial aspect of supply chain I am delighted to be joined by my colleagues from the supply chain special interest group of the Society for the Advancement of Consulting :

• Dr. Karen Wilson-Starks, President and CEO of Transleadership Inc. from Colorado Springs, in the state of Colorado.

This idea of the importance of external relationships or connections is really central to the whole idea of modern supply chains. We know that in the old days vertical integration was foremost whereas from the 1970s there was a focus on core competence as businesses internationalized. This changed the business paradigm from one of exercising control through ownership to one of exercising control through relationship.

Every modern company has myriad supply chain relationships but not all think about them same way and not all all value or nurture them the same way. In early 2020, the big test came for many organisation as COVID and the resulting supply chain crisis descended on the world and companies began to reap what they had sowed in terms of their supply chain relationships for better or for worse. More than a little panicking and scrambling around went on during this period as bottlenecks, shortages and price rises emerged.
