Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final didn’t go in favour of the Edmonton Oilers. Sergei Bobrovksy saved the day for the Florida Panthers stopping all 32 shots he faced.

Heading into tonight’s game in Sunrise, Florida, head coach Kris Knoblauch has made a couple of lineup changes. The major one is that Cody Ceci will sit, for the first time this postseason, and will be replaced by Vincent Desharnais. Evander Kane didn’t skate this morning but confirmed that he’ll play tonight. With that, either Warren Foegele and Sam Carrick will come out of the lineup.

Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will go live for Oilersnation Everyday at noon on the Oilersnation YouTube channel. They’ll get you all set for Game 2 tonight discussing the lineup changes, keys to victory and game notes. Since today is a game day, Jay Downton joins the guys for a Sherwood Ford GIANT Pre Game Show edition of Oilersnation Everyday.

The Oilers fall in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final

The Stanley Cup Final finally got underway last night after a long five day wait. Unfortunately, the Edmonton Oilers came out on the wrong side of the result with the Florida Panthers taking Game 1 3-0.

Sergei Bobrovsky was the star of the show denying the Oilers on 32 occasions. Carter Verhaeghe, Evan Rodrigues and Eetu Luostarinen got the three goals for Florida.

Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will go live for Oilersnation Everyday at noon on the Oilersnation YouTube channel. They’ll be joined by Jay Downton and Baggedmilk throughout the show as the four of them break down what happened in Game 1.

Frank Seravalli will also join the program to give his thoughts on last nights Game 1 loss. They’ll also chat about how the Oilers can bounce back in Game 2 and if he believes there should be lineup changes.

Former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton will also make an appearance. Hutton will give the goalie perspective and what it’s going to take for the Oilers to get one by Bobrovsky.

Returning home for two huge games versus the Panthers

The Edmonton Oilers trip down to Sunrise, Florida, couldn't have gone worse. In Game 1 they played well but couldn't beat Sergei Bobrovsky, who stopped all 32 shots he faced. Then in Game 2, there was a glimmer of hope when Mattias Ekholm scored to give the Oilers the lead. However, the belief fell apart after the Panthers scored four unanswered goals to seal the win.

Now, the Oilers head back home down 2-0 in the Stanley Cup Final. The last team to be down 2-0 in a Stanley Cup Final and win was the 2011 Boston Bruins. Can the Oilers now find their inner Bruin?
