Oh Here We Go

Oh Here We Go

Stephanie Parsley and Lacey Rogers

Oh Here We Go started as two best friends from the South who were constantly finding themselves having interesting conversations that were pushing the boundaries and widening their perspectives on life. Stephanie and Lacey are now living in Denver and Los Angeles and have found themselves saying “yes” to different opportunities. These experiences have ultimately led to exciting, and sometimes uncomfortable, situations — but, above all else, have allowed them to grow. With Stephanie being a photographer and Lacey being a content creator, the two have been combining their experiences and immersing themselves in all their curiosities of the world which has led them to where they are now. Oh Here We Go is a podcast about all the conversations you didn’t know you wanted to have. Touching on topics that range from psychedelics to pornstars, sex to religion, mental health to threesomes... Lacey and Stephanie cover it all. With all of that being said, welcome to the mutha fuckin’ podcast, y’all.

Oh Here We Go - F*%K It, We're Becoming Strippers
play

10/12/21 • 90 min

🛑 Trigger Warning: Sexual Assault was mentioned in this episode. You can skip to 16:15 to continue safe listening if you’d like!

Lacey and Stephanie bring on their very first STRIPPER today. Melanie has been dancing in Colorado for years — though some of you might have already been introduced to her as ✨Venus Virga✨😉.

To kick it off, the girls discuss their curiosities about how people’s perception changes about Melanie once they find out she’s a stripper, which led Lacey into opening up about her own experiences with Sexual Assault and not being respected sexually. This makes them reflect on just how powerful and healing the #MeToo movement was because it gave victims a chance to be heard.

Melanie answers all of the questions we’ve always wanted to know. From why she got into it, how it makes her feel, her financial freedom, ~creepy~ guy stories, and her personal pole tricks. (She does it in a headstand, y’all. 🤭🤩)

As self-proclaimed boundary pushers, you know we couldn’t just leave it at that. So when we say we get PERSONAL this episode, we dive aaaall the way into questions like “Do you get 💦 down there while performing?” and “Do guys get 🍆 while you’re dancing?”

This was one of the most fun episodes we’ve done to date, and especially with all of the stigma that can surround stripping and sex work in general, it was honestly so refreshing to chat with Melanie about what it’s taught her about herself and empowerment, the close connections and security it’s brought her, and most importantly how much she LOVES her work.

This entire interview lead us to...

✨F*%K it, we’re becoming strippers.✨

Oh Here We Go - We're in a pandemic!
play

02/01/21 • 109 min

Stephanie and Lacey are in Denver for NYE and they sit down to reflect on their intentions for the upcoming year. They discuss pandemic dating and what's been the source of some anxiety for Lacey lately.

The two have their first in-person interview (with masks of course!) with nurse, Emily Lane. Emily worked in the front lines in NYC during the 2nd wave of COVID earlier in 2020. She was working in a unit that was turned into an End of Life unit, where she wasn't necessarily helping save lives, but more so helping them die peacefully and not alone.

We get to learn about Emily’s experience working as a nurse during this time, Covid treatments, the vaccine, testings & more! This was such an eye-opening — and emotional, wow — episode.

Wear your mask!

Oh Here We Go - Psychedelic Research and Drug Policy Reform
play

03/30/21 • 85 min

Lacey & Stephanie share their first time experiencing LSD, their opinions on it, how it’s changed them, and how their world view has shifted. With Stephanie & Lacey personally being passionate about psychedelics, they wanted to bring someone on who is actually involved in the decriminalization of these substances.

Today’s guest, Courtney Barnes, is a partner at Barnes Caplan LLP, a boutique law and policy firm in Denver, Colorado. In addition to her work as an attorney, she is also a passionate psychedelic advocate. Courtney is the policy advisor for Decriminalize Nature and serves as General Counsel for SPORE (the Society for Psychedelic Outreach Reform and Education). In this episode the three discuss the healing benefits of psychedelics & how they are now being tested in therapeutic settings to treat things such as depression, anxiety, trauma, etc. and what that looks like for the future of medicine & the pharmaceutical industry. The girls also discuss that a critical part in moving forward in the drug policy reform movement is rectifying past injustices caused by the war on drugs. Oh Here We Go - How To Be An Ethical Fuckboy (or Girl)
play

05/25/21 • 87 min

Fuckboy (or girl) — but make it ethical. ✨

On today’s episode, Stephanie and Lacey bring on Shark, a Denver hairstylist who has been dipping her toes into sex and intimacy coaching, to teach them all about relationship dynamics and how to be an “Ethical Fuckboy (or girl).”

They talk about how and why starting a relationship with transparent honesty is extremely important in order for people to fully express all their needs and desires while avoiding the trap of falling into a false version of ourselves.

They also touch on different attachment styles and how those can play a role in relationships, as well the difference between jealousy and “compersion.” (If you’ve never looked into your attachment style, you should get on that, baby.)

Shark really brings so much to the table when it comes to discussing the intricacies of all sorts of relationship dynamics. We all know communication and being your true self is where it’s at, but what does that mean and how does it present itself in your relationships? Well, this episode likely has some insight into that for you.

Oh Here We Go - Confessions of an Ex-Jehovah's Witness
play

07/06/21 • 91 min

Lacey & Steph dive into their past experiences with the churches they grew up in & share their opinions on Christians vs “Christians.”

While both feel that religion contributed to teaching them structure, morality, compassion, and selflessness, all of these lessons can also be taught in other more secular ways. Being religious isn’t a requirement in being a good person; spirituality and morality are not necessarily synonymous.

With love being at the top of both of their core values, the overall lack of activism for anti-racism, pro-LGBTQ+, and the environment gives Lacey and Stephanie pause in terms of subscribing to any kind of organized religion.

And this all ties into the conversation they have with today’s guest, Kennedy, an ex Jehovah’s Witness.

They go over Kennedy’s upbringing within the Kingdom Hall, unethical acts that have happened within the Jehovah’s Witness community, interesting beliefs & practices that they follow, their “Heaven” (aka “Paradise”) and the 144,000 people allowed in. The three also discuss why she left the practice, how all of this has affected her mental health, as well as how she’s healing from her experiences today.

This episode is a major jaw dropper and the two are so thankful for Kennedy’s bravery in coming on the show to share her story and educate them about the innermost details about this religion that over 8 million people globally adhere to.

Well, Stephanie and Lacey are single now (things change quick lol), and they sit down to catch up on literally all things that have been going on in their personal romantic lives – from Stephanie exploring the idea of open relationships to Lacey choosing herself above settling.

We bring on Melissa Fabello, PhD for a really amazing (and life-changing tbh) conversation about polyamory, open relationships, body politics, and the overall importance of boundaries and open communication in ANY relationship. Melissa has a PhD in Human Sexuality Studies and is the author of Appetite: Sex, Touch, and Desire in Women with Anorexia. She's a digital content creator, educator, writer, consultant, and social justice activist. Not to mention one of the coolest people we've ever (virtually) met.
