Starving for Significance

10/10/21 • 39 min

North Way Christian Community
In our world with modern technology and social media, it’s hard not to compare ourselves with others. We get trapped in this temptation to feel perfect. It’s dangerous and soon turns into us wanting more and more. It’s never enough. We want to feel recognized and significant. Lies and more temptations start to form. We get so caught up in pursuing these things, that we miss out on the small joys of life. When we fall into this temptation, there is always a price to pay. We turn further away from God. In this sermon, we understand significance from God’s perspective and that the truth is always found in Him. Speaker: Pastor Dave D’Angelo

Thirsty for Acceptance

Rejection is tough. We all want to be liked. We want to please the people around us. We want to feel accepted. Sometimes people even pretend to be someone they aren’t and compromise their own standards. Then they don’t even know who they are anymore. The more we long to please people, the more we say yes. We become blinded to the things right in front of us and hurt the people we love the most. When we start to submit to the people around us for acceptance, then our focus is no longer on God. How can we learn to be more like Jesus and instead submit to the cross? Speaker : Pastor Dave D’Angelo

Craving Control

So many of us battle with control. We struggle with trying to control our day-to-day lives. Some of us like to take control because we want to determine the outcome. We control situations because we want all the credit for ourselves. We then become blinded by our own selfishness. Some of us who have issues with control can also struggle with sharing success, which makes us feel threatened and insignificant. When we are trying to take control, we are failing to remember that God is behind the wheel and He is our security. He ultimately is in control. In this sermon, we learn that it is God’s promises that keep us secure and we need to be obedient to His voice. Speaker : Pastor Paul Hunter
