Does your faith have a whole in it? Does your faith go beyond the walls of the church? Sometimes we isolate ourselves in our own Christian bubble.

We try to escape from the world. But this is not what we are called to do. Each of us are called to live a life on mission for God with compassion and love. We are God’s plan to spread His good news and live out our faith publicly.

Everyone has their own unique gifts and talents that can be used to point people toward Jesus. In this sermon, we learn more about the importance of living a life on mission and our part in God's plan.

Trusting God More Than Yourself

What are you hungry for? Are you constantly striving for something that you think will satisfy your hunger? When we are striving for fulfillment and trust ourselves more than God, we become easily tempted. Then when we are unable to get what we want, we are destroyed. We think it’s the only thing that would make us happy. We fall into Satan’s lies. He is always trying to get us into an agreement with him, but always leaves out the details. Satan tries to keep us far from God. He targets our wants, our will, and our way. In this sermon, we learn how important it is to humbly submit ourselves to God and how we must trust Him more than ourselves. Speaker: Amanda Beggs

For Unto Us: Wonderful Counselor

What good is a gift if you never open it? God sent us the greatest gift of all time, His only son. Do you ever feel yourself turning away from this gift at times or look to others to find purpose in your life?

We must let go of empty counsels and ways of the world that lead to darkness. Jesus is uniquely qualified to be our counselor and lead us into the light. If we ignore this, we will continue to spiral downwards and become more distressed. Jesus doesn’t counsel from a distance; he counsels with experience. When Jesus lived on earth, he also experienced darkness, temptation, pain, and loneliness.

However, he never caved in and always resisted. He is the perfect gift and example to provide us with wonderful counsel.

In this first part of our Christmas series, For Unto Us, we learn what it means to have a savior who is a wonderful counselor.
