Meet Virginia “Ginny” Cataldi. Ginny is an Elite Level triathlete who has been racing triathlons for 11 years. She has completed 6 full distance IRONMAN, two of which were in Kona for the the IRONMAN World Championships. The first time at Kona, Ginny qualified for the Boston Marathon, and the second time she placed 9th in her AG. The last IRONMAN she raced, she placed 2nd Overall Female, and passed on her Kona slot. She has raced in 20+ 70.3 distance IRONMAN races and participated at the 70.3 World Championships several times. Her best result at World’s was placing 5th in her AG for a spot on the podium. In addition to racing, Ginny is an certified triathlon coach who loves working with new athletes, and recently taken on a role as a sales consultant with custom sports apparel company called VARLO. When not doing things triathlon related, Ginny teaches middle school art and doing the best she can as a single mother of two teenagers, whom she hopes are proud of her and hope to have inspired them to take calculated risks and find their own passion. Today we meet cyclist and duathlete Danielle Ford. Danielle is from Hunt Valley, Maryland and growing up near the Blue Ridge Mountains, she was encouraged to support meaningful outdoor activities and foster connections between people and the environment through participation and service. She frequently uses her adventures on the bicycle to foster leadership principles she incorporates throughout her life and in her career. Danielle’s passion as a recreational cyclist has allowed her to join organized rides and weekend tours throughout the United States. Shawanna White is a 2004 graduate of the University of West Georgia (UWG) where she was a member of the university’s Women’s Cross-Country & Track teams. At UWG, Shawanna earned All-Conference honors four years consecutively and placed 2nd in the 2002 Gulf South Conference XC Championships. Since leaving West Georgia, Shawanna continues to compete in various events ranging from the mile to the marathon. She was named 2016 & 2017 USATF South Carolina Long Distance Runner of the Year and was recently voted the 2020 USATF South Carolina Masters Long Distance Runner of the Year. Shawanna competes as an elite Masters athlete for rabbitELITE and is currently coached by Jill Braley of Atlanta, GA, who was a 2012 Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier. In 2016, Shawanna was the cover model for Pace Magazine, a premier running magazine circulated throughout the southeast. Being the 6th fastest U.S. born African- American woman in the marathon, Shawanna aspires to qualify for the 2024 USA Olympic Marathon Trials. When Shawanna is not training or racing, she is a full-time physical education and health teacher at Saint Matthews K-8 in St. Matthews, SC. Her motto is “Keep it Positive” and it shows in everything she does. On this episode, meet India Cook. India is an avid Atlanta based runner, YouTube vlogger, podcast host, RRCA certified run coach and advocate for all paces and body types. She loves running and racing, but also has a passion for encouraging and guiding runners and those who aspire to become runners. India coaches independently and is also a run coach with a non-profit organization called A.R.C. (Active Resolute Connected) that empowers women through running and helps to break mental and physical barriers. India started running in 2008 on the quest to lose weight and also engage in a healthy social activity. India jumped into running by signing up for her first race, The Peachtree Road Race. In 2017, India ran her first full marathon in Chicago, Illinois. Within the process of training for her half marathon, India observed that many ladies wanted to know more about her journey to her first full marathon. Therefore, India developed a vlog to document her journey on Facebook called Miles From India. India wanted to continue to give back to the running community; consequently, on June 30, 2020, she launched Miles From India on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/c/milesfromindia), which educates, inspires, and motivates current runners and those that aspire to be runners. To date, India has completed two full marathons, 16 half marathons, and countless 5ks and 10k’s. Since 2018, this journey has allowed her to be a podcast host of The Run Duo Podcast (https://linktr.ee/Therunduo) with her co-host Tommy Mitchell, as they interview runners while educating and entertaining listeners by talking about all things running. India’s goal is to make the sport less intimidating and relatable for her listeners and viewers. India continues to use her voice and grow herself and others in the community of running. On this episode we meet Amy Tingay. Amy is a 42 year old runner and triathlete living in England. She lost over 10 stone (140 pounds) between 2014 and 2018, pausing in 2016 to have her daughter. After the weight loss, Amy felt healthier but still unfit so she started exercising doing various different home workouts. She started running in December 2018 at a weekly Parkrun event, this quickly grew and Amy completed her first race, a half marathon, in September 2019. To date, she has completed 13 half marathons and started training for triathlon in 2021 with my local Triathlon Club. Amy joined Team Varlo in 2022 and have learned so much from her fellow athletes in both the club and the team. She completed her first sprint triathlon in May 2022. Amy has now completed 6 sprint triathlons and plans to increase the distance slowly over the next few years.
