Indian Space History Memory Monologues - Dr Mukund Rao

Dr Mukund Rao has served ISRO in shaping the Indian Remote Sensing and National Natural Resources Management System (NNRMS) programme and has led development of number of EO/GIS applications for national developmental sectors – Natural Resources Information System (NRIS), National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI), National Urban Information System (NUIS) and National GIS. He has led defining national policies for EO and for National GIS.

Later, Dr. Rao has led GIS industry to develop a variety of enterprise GIS solutions and image applications for projects in USA, Singapore, Middle-East, Japan and India. He was instrumental in the design and implementation of Delhi state SDI, India's NSDI metadata portal and many other unique applications.

This is a project by Spaceport SARABHAI (S2) to capture anecdotes of people who have contributed to the development of India's space program. S2 is India’s 1st dedicated Space think tank that aspires to be global, collaborative, and inclusive. More about S2 - http://www.spaceportsarabhai.org/

Prof. Dr. V. Balakista Reddy serves as Registrar of NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad and Centre for Aerospace and Defence Laws (CADL) at NALSAR. He was one the first voices in India to ask for national space legislation.

He is an internationally recognized expert in Air and Space Law and has contributed extensively on different facets of International law. Indian Space History Memory Monologues - Y S Rajan

Y. S. Rajan is a physicist by training. He has made key contributions to space research, technology and applications since 1964 and continues to be an expert on space matters. As scientific secretary, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), he was responsible for a combination of scientific, technical, administrative, planning, policy and international cooperation matters from 1976 to 1988. Since then, he has held various other positions of responsibility related to science and technology, and academia. He was vice-chancellor, Punjab Technology University from 2002-04. Rajan has written on a variety of subjects, including science, technology, business, youth, leadership, social and ethical issues, and several poetry books in Tamil and English. He co-wrote the books India 2020 and The Scientific Indian with A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Rajan is currently Dr Vikram Sarabhai Distinguished Professor at ISRO Headquarters in Bangalore.
