New School: Arts & Culture
Social media and pop culture influences have launched witch culture into the mainstream. The popularity of witchcraft is naturally linked with the feminist movement and even clothing stores have started to brand themselves with this idea in mind. This rise of witch popularity allowed the New York witchcraft scene to gain more visibility than ever before. Ambient sounds provided by:ZapSplat Photo Provided by: dreamstime

Art Therapy: The Purest Form of Self-Expression

Going through a depression when I was younger, really showed me how influential music and other forms of art can be during the recovery period. My experience sparked an interest in the practice of art therapy and lead me on a discovery to learn more about the process. In doing this, I sat down with certified creative arts therapist and former New School resident art therapist, Kate McIntosh, to gain more insight on the field. I also spoke with friend and artists, Imani, to get her first hand input on the influence her paintings (like the one used in the photo) has on her life.
