Philadelphia Flyers forward and alternate captain Scott Laughton joined the podcast for a third time! Laughton talks to us about the pain of the season ending, dealing with trade rumors, his individual struggles in the first half and how he turned it around in the second half, scoring no “Paralyzer” goals this season, the growth of his young teammates, Sean Couturier being named captain, the leadership and veteran presence in the locker room, how Patrick Sharp is helping out young players, Wayne Simmonds' retirement ceremony, stories about Jake Voracek, Michael Raffl, Craig Berube, and a ton more!
At the beginning of the show Riley and Derek give an update on Riley’s MCL tear, the latest news in the NHL including Jakub Voracek retiring, David Quinn fired by the Sharks, Sabres hiring Lindy Ruff and firing Don Granato, and Jack Edwards retiring. Then they discuss how each matchup of the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs are going so far, starting off with the Hurricanes and Islanders, then going over to Ranges vs Capitals, Matt Rempe, and Panarin’s hit on Oshie. They continue by discussing the Panthers and Lightning battle of Florida, the Tkachuk brothers, and Sergei Bobrovsky’s unbelievable save. Eastern Conference wraps up with the Maple Leafs and Bruins while analyzing Brad Marchand and Mitch Marner’s games, while wondering when William Nylander is. Then they analyze the Western Conference Round 1 so far with the Vegas Cheaters vs Dallas Stars, the Kings and the Oilers series, Kempe and Doughty’s goals, the Avalanche and Jets series, and Canucks vs Predators, plus they talk about how good of a job Rick Tocchet has done this season. They also answer fan submitted questions at the end of the show!
