Bonus Episode 1: Autoharp Addendum!
My Weird Record Collection
05/01/24 • 11 min
Sean here. I have to confess: I made some mistakes during the autoharp episode. I know, I know, a horrible injustice to autoharps. Not enough corrections and addenda for a full episode, but too many just to mention in the next episode, so here’s an interim mini-episode to hold you over until May 15. (My apologies to Dr. Walter Duda.)

Podcast Q&A
Why did you start this show?
A friend of mine suggested that I make a podcast about the oddball records I've been buying at record stores, thrift shops, etc.
What do you hope listeners gain from listening to your show?
My goal is really to help preserve these relics of vinyl history and to help people gain an appreciation about how these strange records served what is now covered by YouTube, TikTok, etc.
Which episode should someone start with?
Episode 0 gives a bit of background as to what the podcast is and why I'm doing it.
Which have been your favourite episodes so far?
As I type this, I have only released one main episode and am post-producing the second. Both have been my favorites for different reasons.
Which episode are you most proud of?
Of the very few I've done so far, episode 1, about The Singing Johnson Family, I'm particularly proud of because I was actually able to find a surprising amount of information about such an obscure local piece of Indiana history. It also helped me gain an appreciation for southern Gospel music.
What is your vision for your show?
My vision is to have fun and to help others have fun -- and educate while I'm at it.
What is your favourite other podcast that isn't yours?
There are so many other podcasts for me to choose from that it's so hard to make up my mind. But the first that comes to mind is The Atari 2600 Game by Game Podcast, hosted by Ferg. Such a great and fun video game show for those who love the classic Atari system, and Ferg is a heck of a nice guy too.
How did you come up with the name for your podcast?
The name of my podcast is pretty straightforward! I guess I just couldn't come up with anything more creative.
Tell us a bit about yourself
I'm a Gen Xer in Chicago who loves listening to records. Big fan of The Beatles, Brian Wilson, surf music, exotica, and the good Lord knows what else. I'm also into super-old-school video gaming (pre-NES). I make my living as a software engineer.
