Michael Long is Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Elizabethtown College. He is the author of more than 11 books, writing beautiful, approachable biographical books that take a deep look at spirituality, non-violence, peace, civil rights, and forms of civil disobedience. In this book, Peaceful Neighbor: Discovering the Countercultural Mister Rogers, Long takes a deep look at the dilemmas that Fred Rogers faced, where he was a countercultural voice of love and care, and where he seemed to stumble as he encountered deep, ethical dilemmas. We explore Rogers' presence, small acts of peacebuilding, and his capacity to inspire moral imagination.
