Murder Mile UK True Crime

On Saturday 16th August 1980, 42 year old convicted thief John Thompson had a petty dispute with a barman at an illegal nightclub at 18 Denmark Place (London). What began as a minor argument, soon escalated into one of Britain’s deadliest mass-murderers, and yet almost 40 years on, the story, the victims and even the perpetrator himself is almost entirely forgotten. The question you have to ask yourself is why?

  • Date: Saturday 16th August 1980
  • Location: 18 Denmark Place, St Giles, London, W1
  • Victims: 37 (but technically 38)
