Mums With Hustle Podcast

Tracy Harris

In 2015, as a new mum, I left my 10-year teaching career to pursue the freedom-filled life my family deserved. With no business experience and this podcast as my starting point, I built a multi-million-dollar online education business, powered by Instagram and content marketing.
The Mums With Hustle podcast is where I share my real journey, lessons, and strategies, alongside stories from the women I’ve coached and guests who inspire. It’s your space to learn, grow, and build a business by design. Enjoy!

When All You Wanna Do Is Procrastinate A couple of weeks ago, I found myself wanting to procrastinate and not do the things that I knew would move the needle in my business. These are the tasks that are less sexy and a bit mechanical or technical. Procrastination shows up a lot for me when I'm working on something really purposeful.I know a lot of the women in my tribe can relate, so today I'm chatting all about procrastination and how you can overcome it! LET'S GET INTO IT This episode is for the ladies who want to do purposeful work, but find themselves procrastinating and thinking about all of the other things they could be doing with their time!If you are looking for a guide to uncovering and banishing self-sabotaging beliefs, then you should check out this episode here. 1. Types of Procrastination There are several types of procrastination that manifest for various reasons. In this section, I'm sharing several types of procrastination and why they show up. Here's a quick spoiler: Procrastination stems from fear!Key Points I Discussed:Does a past experience impact your actions? This type of procrastination shows up when we want to avoid a situation. Do you fear being judged? This shows up when we are afraid to put something out there into the world because we don't want to be judged. Keep in mind that the less serious you take yourself, the more impact you can have in your business. Create affirmations to combat this fear! Are you afraid of failing? Look at children - They are approaching new experiences as if everything is play. One of my affirmations to combat my fear of failing is: Business if fun, business is light, business is playful. Does part of your fear revolve around success? Some people fear success because they're afraid of the limelight. Have you put a type of meaning around what success is? Fearing success is very common. Do you fear completing tasks that are heavy to you? Consider outsourcing. What does this look like if this was easy? Do you fear asking for or receiving money? Ask yourself questions about how you feel when you ask for the sale. Do you try to make the tasks harder because you believe money comes from hard work? 2. How To Stop Procrastinating Being self aware is great! But how are you going to manage and overcome your procrastinating now that you know you're doing it? In this section, I'm sharing how I stop procrastinating so I can truly move the needle in my business.Key Points I Discussed:Ask yourself some questions: Get to the bottom of what you're feeling. What about this task or project are you truly avoiding? What pain have I attached to this experience? Is it even so? Can you switch from being problem focused to being solutions focused? How can you invite ease into this situation? Change your physical space: Sometimes I'll change my scene three times in a day, or I'll even leave the house completely. Change your whole state and your energy by being in a different space. Limit distractions and set a timer: Put your phone somewhere else. Turn off notifications on your computer. Work in 20 minute chunks. The more time you have, the more time you have to waste procrastinating. Go to your inner circle: It helps to have a support network of women to go to that you can unpack your feelings to, so you can work through it. Practical things that I do personally: Meditate Pray Essential oils Exercise Get fresh air WRAP UP I hope this episode has really helped you let go of any guilt for carrying around procrastination. Try to pay more attention to the language we use about ourselves, our business, and what we're capable of.I challenge you to ask yourself some deeper questions to really get to the bottom of why you're pro...

Motherhood Meets Entrepreneurship: How I Built A Business With My Babies At Home and Endless Night Waking The element of having young children around all the time when you're trying to grow your business can really make you feel like your business is going at an extremely slow place. So what should you do when motherhood meets entrepreneurship? And how the heck are you supposed to grow your empire with only a few hours a day? As always, I've got you covered with how you can begin to hustle consciously and see growth in your biz. LET'S GET INTO IT In this episode, I really wanted to speak to all those ladies who feel like they don't have enough time to grow their business. So I'm sharing how I built Mums With Hustle with two babies at home and endless night waking! 1. Don't Get Caught Up Comparing Yourself I will be the first to tell you that overnight success is a myth, and believing this myth allows for comparison syndrome to creep into your mind and poison you against yourself. In this section, I'm sharing why you cannot allow yourself to get caught up in comparison syndrome. Key Points I Discussed: What happens when you start comparing your journey to another biz babe's? Why should you stop comparing yourself to other women in business? How can you stop comparing yourself? 2. Stop Glorifying Busyness Progress and success in business does not come down to busyness. In reality, busyness prevents you from growing as an entrepreneur and creates self-limiting beliefs. Key Points I Discussed: Why should you not equate success with being busy? You should be taking consistent conscious action on the right tasks in your business. Mel Robbins describes busyness as just an excuse. Busyness is fear talking. How is busyness a form of procrastination? Make a list - What are the things that you spend time being busy with? WRAP UP We need the courage to be honest with ourselves and the drive to take action on the things that will allow us to see growth on this entrepreneurship journey. We do not need time in order to succeed! Think of one thing that you can do today to move your business forward. I'm so excited to see you bring consciousness into your hustle!Tag me @mumswithhustle in your IG Stories with what you're going to do today to move your biz forward, so I can repost it in my Stories and hold you accountable. Things I Have Had To Let Go Of In Order To Grow Myself Spiritually, Mentally and Emotionally Contentment, alignment and success in business.... It all starts with LETTING GO! Letting go of self-limiting beliefs, fear, clutter, toxic people, guilt, false perceptions of yourself, etc. The list goes on and on. We've got to let go in order to grow! And that's what I want for you, babe. I want you to grow spiritually, mentally, and emotionally, so I had to share this episode with you so you can let go and make more room for what you want to receive from life. LET'S GET INTO IT Today's episode is just you and I, babe. I'm drawing inspiration from one of my recent posts on Instagram that got a lot of saves, comments, likes, and DMs. You can check out that post below: Contentment, alignment and success in business.... It all starts with LETTING GO! Letting go of fear. Letting go of beliefs that hold you back. Letting go of clutter. Letting go of toxic people or people that you’ve outgrown. Letting go of mistakes and hurts. Letting go of guilt. Letting go of holding the cards too tight. Letting go of money. Letting go pride. Letting go of false perceptions of yourself. Letting go of unnecessary expectations. Let go and make room for what you want to receive. 💕 Know someone who needs this message? Tag them here. #LetGoToGrow #MWHLife #MumsWithHustle . . 📷 @leahladsonphotography 👗 by @bykane_ styled by @designerstylelist A post shared by Instagram + Biz Mentor (@mumswithhustle) on Jun 6, 2018 at 2:00am PDT THE RECAP I've come to this place where I've realised anytime I'm feeling stuck, uninspired, upset, etc., I need to come back to myself and think “Is this true? Or is there something that I need to let go of?” I truly believe every step forward needs us to let go of something in some capacity. So grab your pen and paper because I'm sharing three things you need to let go of in order to find success and grow. 1. Identity My old self-identity had to be let go for me to become the entrepreneur I am today! I had put together a perception of who I was that I had created out of my egoic self, and that version of me could not grow. Believe me when I say that when you let go of your false identity, you are able to step into your full potential. Key Points I Discussed: How did I put myself in a box? What caused me to start questioning myself and my own worth? Why you shouldn't have your identity wrapped up in one thing? Is your identity wrapped up in a false egoic sense of self or is it your truth? 2. People Pleasing I would love to make everyone happy all the time, but that's just not possible. I still feel a certain kind of pressure to come and attend get togethers or have long phone conversations, go out, go shopping, etc. just because I run my business from home. However, I realised that was just me trying to be a people pleaser. Key Points I Discussed: How did I get comfortable with saying no? I let people know what my work days are and my off days are. I say “no” in a really loving way. What boundaries did I set to stop people pleasing? Do you have family and friends who look at your biz as really unconventional?  It's so important to be able to step into their shoes, be confident, and have trust in ourselves to set boundaries to focus on growing your business and not people pleasing. 3. Limiting Beliefs Around Success, Money, and Happiness I am constantly working on letting go of the limiting beliefs that I have surrounding success, money, and happiness. I am seeking out opportunities to always grow and push past my comfort zone. Key Points I Discussed: How does every person have a success threshold? How does self-sabotage manifest itself as illness? In what ways do we use excuses to stay small? Why is it important to increase our comfort boundaries? RESOURCES The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks WRAP UP I would love to know if anything in this episode struck a chord with you.

play

Building Mums With Hustle: Your Questions Answered This celebratory episode features my amazing co-host and husband, Karl (you may know him as Mr. Hustle) and we're chatting all about how we began building Mums With Hustle and what our entrepreneurial journey has been like up until now. LET'S GET INTO IT Pop the champagne or dive into a smoothie bowl because this it the third anniversary of the Mums With Hustle Podcast! During this episode, we are chatting all about how we began building Mums With Hustle and this episode contains the answers to several questions that my tribe asked me via Instagram and my free private Facebook Group - The Mums With Hustle Biz Club - about how Karl and I grew our empire. 1. The Beginning of Mums With Hustle Damn, I hustled when building Mums With Hustle. It wasn't easy! But I'm so grateful for everything we've achieved in these last three years. Key Points We Discussed: How did you build the business in the beginning with young children? When did Tracy work, and how did she get it all done? Tracy hustled during nap times. She recorded podcasts at night (8PM) when Ethan was in bed. How did Tracy manage FOMO when she had to work while Karl got to hang with the boys? Why you need to be very conscious about where you are choosing to spend your time? 2. Working at MWH A lot of ladies wanted to know when Karl and I work, so here I'm sharing our schedule and how we knew it was time to bring Karl into the business full-time. Key Points We Discussed: How many days do we work and when? We committed to working three days a week - Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday. We work from 9-5 on those three days. Thursdays are our overflow days. When did we know that it was time to bring Karl home and into the business full-time? You just know - especially when the nerves feel exciting, that's your intuition speaking. We knew we would make it work because of our self-belief. Ultimately, it was Karl who knew it was time because his family meant more to him than the day job did. Before taking the leap, you have to know that you have a strategic plan to support your family. 3. Generating a Steady Income People tend to think about self-employment as they do the hourly job they're coming from. When it comes to self-employment, the income is not predictable. So generating a steady income took a bit of time for us. Key Points We Discussed: When did we start generating a steady income? What was the business model that we had in the first couple of years of MWH? How did the money we made go back into the business? WRAP UP The podcast episode that we referenced throughout this episode is: Doing Business With Your Husband - Behind The Scenes at MWH We'd love to know what your favorite Mums With Hustle Podcast episode of all time is!
