Episode 15: Ah the world of wine is so vast! For many of us, when it comes to buying a bottle of wine, it's hit or miss and we might purchase based on the pretty label or a recommendation from someone else. MProper Mimi teamed up with Chef Keesha O'Galdez, founder and owner of The Gourmet Diva Inc. from our very first episode and Sommelier and wine educator Lea Faith Williams, founder of Let's Talk Wine to host a virtual wine tasting. Our ladies extraordinaire walked us through the process of how to pair and taste wine and find what we like about the wine we are drinking! We focused on women in wine, particularly Black women in the wine industry for our wine recommendations. What we found was that it was difficult for some people to find wine in their local stores from the following Black owned wineries and winemakers: Brown Estate, McBride Sisters, Theopolis Vineyards, Stuyvesant Champagne and Aslina Wines. Whether it's due to demographics or distribution, you can ask your local store to order these and other Black owned wines for your tasting pleasure or go right to the source and order direct! We invited Paula Harrell, from P. Harrell Wines to join us afterwards for an intimate conversation about Black Women in wine and what some of their experiences have been in the wine industry. Mimi talked with Lea, Keesha and Paula about what first sparked their interest in wine, to various challenges and accomplishments they have achieved. We hope this episode helps to open the world of wine to women and empower them to identify what they like to drink and why. As always, we want to encourage supporting Black businesses and women in business as well. Listen and share MProper Mimi with other Black women and anyone who is passionate about conversations that empower women everywhere! Email Mimi with questions or comments! Episode 12: Mimi sits down with Omama Marzuq of Tomorrow's Prosperity Group Inc. (prosperity@tpgi.co) to talk about financial planning and what we as women have learned from our families about finances growing up. Especially now during Covid we all need to have a plan and regularly schedule dates to look over our finances. Knowing which buckets you are putting your money into, identifying other ways you can save and how dying in the US is not free are a few topics we touch on. No matter if you just got a promotion, are a survivor of sexual abuse starting over financially or recently were laid off from your job...we all can stand to learn more about stretching our dollars and being as financially prepared as possible for the changes coming tomorrow.

Episode 19: Have you ever played the game Black card Revoked? It basically celebrates popular American Black culture. Well, as you may know, there are many different Black experiences in America and not everyone had the same pop culture exposure growing up. Which brings us to today's episode with MProper Mimi host Mimi Jacks and Kristal Adams co-host of the Black Card Rehab podcast. Listen as we chat about some of our Black card experiences and stories of how it feels sometimes to be left out of cultural references. We are learning though! And it's fun to relive some of our hilarious memories together. No one should feel like their Black experience isn't Black enough and we are comfortable knowing our Black cards cannot be revoked.
