022 AUDIO: Let’s sneak into Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA
Motormouth Podcast Car Buying Tips and Tricks
02/10/16 • 2 min
Well, the Denver Broncos are on top of the NFL once again and our roving reporter, Flo was right there to capture it all! Well, sort of... Check out the highlights and lowlights of this historic 50/50; Flo turns 50 and the Super Bowltoo. If only he knew the difference between a football and baseball!
I had a great time with my daughter in Santa Clara, California this weekend. We’re not the biggest sports fans, however, the Super Bowl brings out the best in all of us! We had fun making a quick, parody-type video podcast from the most technologically advanced stadium in the league; Levi’s Stadium. Simply amazing!
While in Santa Clara, we enjoyed a visit to The Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California. This Museum is the ‘Hall of Fame’ for nerds like us! Some of our favorite exhibits included rare or one-of-a-kind objects such as a Cray-1 supercomputer as well as a Cray-2, Cray-3. My daughter found it amusing that Cray (always the fashion plate) allowed customers to personalize their Cray from a variety of upholstery color choices on the iconic C-shaped seating around the base of each supercomputer. $30 million gave you choices back then! We discovered that underneath Cray’s unique seating design was the supercomputer’s cooling units. The CHM does an excellent job in preserving and presenting the stories and artifacts of the information age. It was great father and daughter time too. I was able to say “Hey, I used to use one of those” as I pointed out relics like cassette tapes and floppy discs!
Check out the fun on our video podcast: https://www.facebook.com/streettoyota/videos/10153320623770848/ Leave us a comment and tell me some of the interesting things you’ve done with your son or daughter too!

Learn barbecue smoke secrets from the Master; Steven RaichlenRaichlen’s obsession with live fire cooking began with The Barbecue Bible (Workman, 1998), an IACP/Julia Child Award-winning encyclopedic study of global grilling chronicling his 4-year, 200,000-mile odyssey in pursuit of the world’s most remarkable grilling. How to Grill (Workman, 2000) was the world’s first step-by-step guide to live fire cooking, with more than 1000 color photographs, hailed by the New York Times as “astute, approachable, and eminently appealing.” How to Grill won an IACP Award and has more than 1.8 million copies in print.

John: Here we are again in Amarillo. I’m John ‘Motor Mouth’ Luciano from Street Auto Group. We’ve got something...
Flo: Hi, guys.
John: Really fun today!
John: You know my cohort over here, Flo. We’ve got Steven Raichlen with us today. We’re going to talk a little bit about his book, Project Smoke, his show Project Smoke, so I’m kind of guessing it’s all about smoke for you, right?
Steven: It’s all about smoke. Yes, because all barbecue is smoke, but not all smoked foods are barbeque, right? Think of smoked salmon. Think of smoked cheese. Think of even bacon, that’s not barbecue. The book is really about smoke in all of it’s tasty splendor.
John: That is awesome. In all kinds of different types of food, right? You can barbecue anything. Am I right?
Steven: Well, you can smoke anything.
John: Okay.
Steven: I don’t know that you can barbecue a cheesecake, but you can smoke a cheesecake.
John: [laughs]
Steven: And you will actually find a smoked cheesecake recipe in my book.
John: Okay. There’s our first word for today. Flo, you’ve got to find a smoked cheesecake.
Flo: That’s why you didn’t write the book.
John: That’s why I didn’t write the book. You’re exactly right. I think I’ll stay in the car business. We’re in Amarillo, Texas, as you guys know. And we’re talking about the Panhandle PBS today, who we love and is dear to our heart, as you know. And It’s awesome that your show is shown by them and take it. And now, we talk about your book. One here. So you’re signing autographs today with Boyd’s equipment, on the canyon.
Steven: Boyd’s carries the books and also my Best of Barbecue cooking accessories. You can also find it at Hasting’s book store and Barnes and Noble, online at biblebarbecue.com, which is my website, widely available.
John: Barbequebible.com?
Steven: Yes. B-A-R-B-E-C-U-E-B-I-B-L-E.com.
John: That is awesome.

018 AUDIO: VW’s secret headquarters outside Langley, VA
Motormouth Podcast Car Buying Tips and Tricks

John Luciano chases Volkswagen executives down the hall as they run from the paparazzi!
As a member of the Dealer Council for Volkswagen Group of America, I had the opportunity to see the exciting and innovate designs to be unveiled this year.
Even the high-tech building that houses Volkswagen’s U.S. headquarters in Herndon, Virginia is an amazing feat of architectural wonder. Thoughtful design is incorporated into each of its 185,000 square feet. A central, interconnecting staircase between the second and sixth floors is a work of art (I still took the elevator).
Naturally, the Council also discussed the continued challenges that face Volkswagen; both for our customers and dealers.
One of the most interesting things I discovered at this meeting was something that wasn’t on the agenda; Humor and playful communication.
While tackling some of the most important (and serious) issues within your organization, remember to strengthen your relationships with everyone involved by triggering some positive feelings. We simply think better the less stressed out we are.
“A day without laughter is a day wasted.” – Charlie Chaplin
When we laugh with one another, a positive bond is created. This bond acts as a strong cushion against stress.
A study published in the Harvard Business Review discusses how followers mirror their leaders. According to this study in behavioral neuroscience, human brains contain “mirror neurons.” A subset of these mirror neurons detects other people’s smiles and laughter, prompting smiles and laughter in return.
A leader who is self-controlled and humorless will rarely engage those neurons in his team, but a boss who laughs and sets an easygoing tone puts those neurons to work, triggering spontaneous laughter and binding his team together in the process.

What will you do to make your staff smile today? Sometimes business needs to be seriously fun! – Lucky
