Beverage businesses can lose as much as ten percent of revenue during January. But “dry-January” represents a trend that goes beyond one month. Drinking less, or not at all is becoming accepted culturally, and businesses are taking note. Tesstastic Mixers opened in October, with an equal focus on alcoholic and non-alcoholic offerings. Upcoming in Mancos: Live Music and Film Screening Events

Mancos Creative District’s annual, local music event, Mixed in Mancos, is coming up on Saturday, March 2nd. Mancos Public Library is sponsoring a screening of the film The Right to Read on Thursday, February 29th at the Mancos Opera House followed by a Q&A session. Amy Grogan’s Landscape block print exhibit, called Landscapes from the Heart, will be showing at the Cortez Cultural Center through February 29th. The Dolores Public Library’s monthly exhibit showcases art by Susan Reed through the end of February. New Restaurant Opens in Cortez

The Cortez Public Library is hosting a presentation on Moab Rock Art with Rory Tyler on Thursday, March 7th at 6 p.m. Mancos School of the West’s next winter workshop is happening on Saturday, March 9 at Mancos Public Library. The class will explore layering, colors, and patterns using a Gelli plate, stains, stencils, paper, and more. Visit the School of the West’s website to register.
