So we hear a lot about Superfoods, right? But what are they?
And why are they even called “Super” What makes them super?
Well, I’m glad you asked, because today we are doing a mini episode devoted to just that! After being inspired by Brandy and her healing through food, this seems an appropriate next step! So this is going to be a short and sweet episode...we are going to focus on fruits today...this will be part one of our mini series entitled, “Why are they superfoods?”
A Word of Warning: There is controversy! (of course! LOL)
So, let’s explain what super foods are considered to be.
Simply put, Superfoods are nutritional powerhouses. Superfoods are foods that have a very high nutritional density...they are extremely high in micronutrients like vitamins and minerals and are packed with fiber, as well as antioxidants, enzymes and health fats like omega-3 fatty acids. All of these nutrients are essential to your body so you can thrive. And on top of that, Super foods boost the immune system, help prevent anti-aging, and are linked to the prevention of disease.
Today we cover a few Superfood Fruits...including blueberries, grapefruit and a few others!
