Big Wave Surfing
Miriam's Meditations
01/15/24 • 36 min
Have you ever seen videos of people surfing waves that are 40-50 feet high? They glide down the face of the huge vertical plane of water, which could and sometimes does sweep them away? These times may sometimes seem like we are being followed by a huge wave that threatens to knock us off our feet and sweep us away like broken sticks upon the ocean. What you may not see or realize when you watch those videos is that the surfers are surrounded by helpers! People on jet skis and in boats, ready to snatch them out of the jaws of crashing white foam when then are done with their ride, or get wiped out.
We too have helpers all around us. Some seen, some invisible. Assisting us at all times, when we open and release to receive. Also, we are preparing to meet that giant wave, working on our skills from the inside out. So when life does bear down upon us with events and situations that are out of our control, we are able to ride with confidence. Also, learn to swim.
This episode takes us to a still place, using the Orbit Breath and Rhythmic Breathing. These two sophisticated energy practices bring us to a place where the light we encounter clear and cleanses us on all levels: physical, emotional, mental and etheric. We emerge rested and cleansed.

Circles of Light: A special meditation for Maui
Miriam's Meditations
08/21/23 • 38 min
Aloha everyone. This episode is a special sharing of spiritual Light for the island of Maui, her people and all those affected by the fires of August 8, 2023. The guides have called this episode Circles of Light. In Hawaii, there is a word for family and it is Ohana. OHana can be pictured as a circle of light. You can have an ohana that is your family, your neighborhood can be your ohana, or your work friends. Ohana is flexible and inclusive.
In this powerful meditation, we start with our breath, breathing as one. We engage with the spiritual light of our own practice, calling forward our connection to the spiritual realms and breathing that light into our being. Harmony, compassion, beauty, love. Recognizing our light, we reach out to for a pattern of lighted spiritual nourishment with all those participating in our meditation. Recognizing the ancient banyan tree that is the symbol of Hope in Lahaina, we offer our pattern of light that it might help clear the ash, cleanse the wounds, salve the hearts, and uplift all into the light of love.
Hope is a radical act of braving the future and daring to imagine the highest and best coming into being. We offer this light of hope that it may become food and sustenance and a future that is filled with love and blessing. Thank you for participating and being part of this journey.

Light Blessing for Climate Wellness
Miriam's Meditations
06/28/21 • 43 min
Climate changes are on our minds and hearts in this time. Addressing “climate anxiety” that we may feel when noticing changes or hearing difficult news, we offer our practice and meditation as a form of inner activism, contributing to the mass reality harmony, beauty, higher frequencies and support. Working in the background as a yin complement to yang outward activity, we create flows of energy that support the wellness of our planetary home.
A quote from Seth, channeled by Jane Roberts reminds us of how we all contribute to mass events: “There is no event upon the face of the earth in which each of you has not played some part, however minute, because of the nature of your thoughts, beliefs, and expectations. There is no public act in which you are not in that same manner involved. You are intimately connected with all of the historic events of your time.
“You can become involved now in a new exploration, one in which man's civilizations and organizations change their course, reflecting his good intents AND his ideals. You can do this by seeing to it that each step you personally take is ‘ideally suited’ to the ends you hope to achieve.
“If you do this, your life will automatically be provided with excitement, natural zest and creativity, and those characteristics will be reflected outward into the social, political, economic, and scientific worlds. This is a challenge more than worth the effort. It is a challenge that I hope each reader will accept. The practical idealist (pause) . . . When all is said and done, there is no other kind. I bid each of you success in that endeavor.”

The Harvest is Beauty
Miriam's Meditations
09/19/22 • 38 min
Open your breathing space, tone your diaphragm and abdominal muscles and clear your mind and emotions with this week's return to our sadhanna breath practice. A luminous cascade of light helps us clear our field, rising in Light to higher energies. We then bear witness to our own Harvest—what beauty comes to you as you engage in changing from within? How does your inner being flow into your life on a daily basis? Clarity and stillness are the fruits of our practice.
A short quote from Light From Uncommon Stars by Ryka Aoki.
The violinist Katrina takes instruction from her teacher:
“Also, I notice as that you tend to rush. When you rush, all you are doing is practicing your mistakes at a faster pace. So let’s try this at half speed. If that is too fast, we will slow it down some more. Understood?”

Sweet Flower Meditation
Miriam's Meditations
05/15/23 • 35 min
Listen in to a new conversation with Amanda Strojny on her Untapped Power podcast. Amanda talks with thought leaders on topics centering around money and worthiness, your untapped power to be who you truly are. https://amandastrojny.com/podcast
We had a wonderful, deep conversation about how breath practice and regular meditation can bring your focus into a higher alignment with your true nature and express that into your life with greater ease and flow.
Also, I read an article this week about breath practice and reducing your risk of Alzheimer’s in HuffPost. A recent unique study showed that a simple 5:5 breath pattern practiced 20 minutes a day, twice a day for 4 weeks increased heart rate variability, which tends to drop as we age and is an important factor in overall fitness, and decreased amyloid-beta peptides in there blood stream. These peptides are connected to Alzheimer’s and may be the main cause of the disease. https://apple.news/A0JWYDBCtRt60ULqcfeBi6g The Breathing Technique that could reduce your risk of Alzheimer’s.
We practice this 5:5 breath pattern in this episode along with our usual breath practice. We also do some practice on finding things as energy, using the natural world as our canvas. We use our imagination as a sense to find a single flower, which we study deeply with our mind’s eye. We see if we can discern an interior geometry to the flower, an inner patterning that is the flower’s vast, deep beingness. We extend that sensing to the natural world around us, noticing connections between trees, plants, any animals in our vicinity. We recognize the natural world as the ground of our being. We send gratitude for our lives that are supported so freely by the earth herself.

Season Seven: Personal Power Through Awareness
Miriam's Meditations
05/06/24 • 33 min
Season Seven!
After 3 years and over 150 episodes of Miriam's Meditations, it feels like a good time to do something new. For the next several weeks, I'm going to be teaching from this book:
Personal Power Through Awareness, an Orin Book by Sanaya Roman. (We will still be breathing too!)
Reading Orin is like visiting with a kind friend whose guidance is useful and practical and above all JOYFUL!
I encourage you to get a copy of the book to get a deeper insight into the meditations we'll be doing. You don't have to read the book, however, you will still get a lot out of the meditations. I hope you'll join us in the energy clubhouse that we're creating on the inner planes.

Sounds that Heal Anger / Shower of Light
Miriam's Meditations
10/11/21 • 48 min
Learn a sound for healing anger, which is stored in the liver. We read a lot about liver cleansing and sound is one way we can clear and cleanse old patterns of anger and heal our precious organ. We also learn to use the Vocal Breath to speak our truth and the Rib Stretching Breath to make more space for the breath. A meditation of light follows, bringing patterns of Harmony, Peace, Love and Beauty into our field to replace any outdated patterns we have released.
We remember attitudes are contagious and envision our coherent, light-filled attitude carrying forth into our day, harmonize with all we meet.

All Your Past/Grief Sounds that Heal Part Two
Miriam's Meditations
09/20/21 • 41 min
“All your past except its beauty is gone and nothing is left but a blessing.” A Course in Miracles
Fall brings new perspectives. Here on Maui, the light changes to create a deep turquoise blue in our ocean. In this journey we use this color to cool and soothe while we embark up Part Two of the Grief sound of the Sounds that Heal. With this sound, we are calling to our present anything that is ready to be brought to awareness: loss, old thoughts or patterns, outmoded beliefs, relationships or projects that we are ready to release. We create specific vibrations in our field that allow grief to rise up and leave us with gentleness and ease. The other breaths create a surround that supports and nourishes, allowing us to reach deeply without being overwhelmed or injured in any way. Only what is ready to be released surfaces. We are cleansed, cleared, made whole.

Sounds That Heal/Moving with Change
Miriam's Meditations
09/13/21 • 44 min
This is the first official episode of Season Two of Miriam’s Meditations. It also represents a deepening of our practice as we learn the Sounds that Heal. The first sound we learn to practice is the sound for grief. This sound corresponds to the lungs, the element of metal and an intention to release grief and breathe in joy.
Our bodies remember a great deal of what has happened to us. Some of this we can process and move through, some we hold onto in various ways. Much of this holding is not known to our conscious mind and resides in our energy field. It can cause congestion, illness, confusion. With these sounds, we access these residues and cleanse them, with support of the other breaths of the practice.
Holding patterns in the lungs correspond to illnesses like asthma, flu, depression, colds. It’s almost like a sticky substance that interferes with the highest functioning of our lungs, reducing our capacity to be in life. For if our lung capacity is diminished, we cannot do all the things we might otherwise do.
Join us in deepening our connection to ourselves and our ability to meet the changes of the moment.
“Things falling apart is a kind of testing and also a kind of healing. We think hat the point is to pass the test of to overcome the problem, but the truth is that things don’t really get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then they come together again and fall apart again. It’s just like that. The healing comes from letting there be room for all this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy.” Pema Chodron, When Things Fall Apart.

Light Tool: Radiance for a situation or person
Miriam's Meditations
08/23/21 • 42 min
What is a Light Tool? A Light Tool is an inner technology, where we use the power of our inner field of Light. The Light Tool in this episode is used to assist, cleanse or reveal the Divine Pattern of a situation or relationship. We are not focusing Light in order to create a certain outcome. Rather, we connect deeply to share the light we cultivate through our breath and meditation practice, as an offering of Love and Blessing. One of the more challenging aspects of this practice is complete surrender of the outcome. We are simply radiating Light from a pure stance in the energies, knowing our offering will assist the outworking of highest and best for all.
This is the way of the Inner Map. We are mapping these inner realms with our conscious focus and being in the higher flows.
Thich Nhat Hanh, the Buddhist Monk, says: “Breathing in I calm body and Mind. Breathing out I smile. Dwelling in the present moment, I know this is the only moment.” May you walk with an Inner Smile all through your day.
