Moving to a foreign city can be unsettling, especially the thought of leaving your family and friends behind. Not everyone can hack it because living abroad means letting go of the comforts you're used to, especially if you feel your country is the best in everything. But for those of us that shed this mindset, living abroad or travel can be especially rewarding, even when you don’t know anyone and starting over is inevitable.
Some things living abroad has taught me
- Less stuff = less stress The best things in life aren't things, it's experiences that are more valuable
- You are more open to different ways of life by experiencing different cultures with a more open mind, you'll learn the value of living differently
- Roll with it man - You quickly learn that you can handle most situations life throws at you. There really aren’t a lot of things worth getting upset about. This doesn't mean you have to accept everything as it is. Choose your battles.
Thais have a popular saying: Sabai,Sabai which loosely translates to 'let it go.' Try it sometime.
