Life and the goals you want to accomplish during your journey are never linear. If you want to reach your desired destination, you need to surrender to the process, no matter how difficult it is.

Life and comfort don’t co-exist. Though we refuse to admit it and allow the curated life displayed on social media to influence our decision making or outlook, nothing is permanent, and at any moment life could throw you a curveball that could change the game up without warning.

When you trust the process, you accept and have faith in the unknown. And yes, you step outside of your bubble and allow life to guide you along your journey.

Moving to a foreign city can be unsettling, especially the thought of leaving your family and friends behind. Not everyone can hack it because living abroad means letting go of the comforts you're used to, especially if you feel your country is the best in everything. But for those of us that shed this mindset, living abroad or travel can be especially rewarding, even when you don’t know anyone and starting over is inevitable.

Some things living abroad has taught me

  • Less stuff = less stress The best things in life aren't things, it's experiences that are more valuable
  • You are more open to different ways of life by experiencing different cultures with a more open mind, you'll learn the value of living differently
  • Roll with it man - You quickly learn that you can handle most situations life throws at you. There really aren’t a lot of things worth getting upset about. This doesn't mean you have to accept everything as it is. Choose your battles.

Thais have a popular saying: Sabai,Sabai which loosely translates to 'let it go.' Try it sometime.

Mind Traps - Finding your Balance and Inner Peace
play

11/02/19 • 14 min

Inner peace depends largely on choice. It's the decisions we constantly have, and many of our habits determine how much peace we experience in our daily lives.

It's this realization that prompted these words by Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart

“Attitude is a choice. Happiness is a choice. Optimism is a choice. Kindness is a choice. Giving is a choice. Respect is a choice. Whatever choice you make makes you. Choose wisely.”

Tokenism: The practice of doing something (such as hiring a person who belongs to minority group) only to prevent criticism and give the appearance that people are being treated fairly. How can we combat this and get to a place of more harmony?

In his relentless search for self-understanding and conscious awareness, Bruce Lee produced a lot of valuable messages that apply not only to martial arts but can be applied to life as a whole. A snippet from the quote I will focus on is: “Like everyone else, you want to learn the way to win, but never to accept the way to lose, to accept defeat, to learn to die is to be liberated from it." What did Bruce Lee mean by that? I will talk about 3 points to expand the meaning of the phrase by explaining the philosophical views of Bruce Lee and how it implores us to take our ego out of the equation if we want to succeed, or at the very least, gleam some gem from the experience.
