In 2014, 19-year old, Megan Hiatt created an online dating profile. She met a Navy man by the name of Gaiwain “Rush” Wilson. They were smitten and within 2 months, their whirlwind romance resulted in the pair moving in together and a month later, they were pregnant with twin girls. They were over the moon, but soon, Rush would show his true colors – easily agitated, extremely apologetic, and hypercritical of everything Megan did.

But Megan, the product of a broken home, wanted to make things work for the baby girls she was carrying. Megan didn’t believe she was the victim of domestic abuse, because Rush never put his hands on her. After the girls were born, Megan had made up her mind to leave for the third and final time...but she made a frightful decision that altered her family and life forever. She told Rush she was leaving.

Dig in with Margot as she has an extremely candid conversation with Megan. This interview was conducted in 2020. You already heard Margot tell you this story in Ep46, but in this episode – we hear the story from the survivor herself.

You thought you heard it all when you listened to Margot’s 3-part series on BTK, but today, she is bringing you BTK himself. In his own words. Listen to this BONUS episode if you want to know how a killer sounds. Listen to this BONUS episode if you want to hear BTK describe his crimes to District Judge Waller in 2005. Dennis Rader recounts the horrific crimes with the ease of a man teaching you how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Margot suggests listening to Episodes 21-23 before listening to this bonus content, so you understand the magnitude of the crimes he later describes while huffing and puffing like a tired cheerleader.

On August 17, 2020, Elder Fernandes was released from a hospital. He had spent 6 days hospitalized for unknown reasons. One of his military coworkers picked him up and dropped Elder off at his home on the 2700 block of Woodlands Drive in Killeen, Texas. Elder was then never seen again.

On August 18, 2020, Elder failed to report to work, although his car was found in the parking lot of his work place on Fort Hood.

By Wednesday, August 19, 2020, after not hearing from Elder since Sunday, Elder’s family was very concerned and his mother flew from Massachusetts to Texas to search for Elder.

Since his disappearance, Fort Hood officials have released 4 press releases informing the public that they are doing everything in their power to find Elder. However, they do not suspect foul play in his disappearance. They have allegedly spoken to various soldiers that make it seem as though Elder left of his own accord.

However, according to his family, immediately before his disappearance, Elder had been the victim of abusive sexual touching. He had filed an unrestricted report with the SHARP and his leadership even moved Elder to a new unit because Elder had been complaining of bullying and being belittled.

It’s unclear if Elder’s disappearance is related to his sexual abuse allegation, or if it’s connected with his hospitalization, but his family and the Army and Killeen PD need YOUR help.

Dig in with Margot as she discusses the most recent disappearance at Fort Hood – that of Sergeant Elder Fernandes.

-----

If you have any information, however small, pertaining to Elder’s case or pertaining to someone Elder knew who is now acting weird, please reach out to the Killeen PD at 254-526-8477. You can also contact Army CID at 254-28702722.

You can also submit an anonymous tip at Bell County Crime Stoppers.

In December of 1988, an Army soldier terrorized Killeen and Fort Hood, Texas, during a 36-hour killing spree. Why did he do this? Allegedly he needed money to buy gifts for his girlfriend. He didn’t know this, but the Army had already initiated administrative discharge paperwork, but it would not be fast enough.

Dig in with Margot as she discusses the robberies, murders, court-martial, and death penalty case against 20-year old Army Private Dwight Jeffrey Loving.

Clint Lorance was a soldier who had everything going for him. He was raised in a conservative household and after 9/11, he was lining up to sign up for the Army. He quickly went up the enlisted ranks, then became a military officer. Clint was a fast burner in the military. Then in 2012, he went on an Afghanistan deployment that would change the course of his life forever. Dig in with Margot as she discusses the facts of the Clint Lorance war crime case as disclosed by the court and by the soldiers who were present during the murder of two unarmed Afghanistan men (a third man got away with minimum injury). And don’t forget to come back next week for the conclusion of the Clint Lorance story.
