Midlife Confidence - Turning Trauma into Triumph with Stephanie Olson [63]

Turning Trauma into Triumph with Stephanie Olson [63]

Midlife Confidence

Most of us in midlife have experienced trauma at some time in our lives. My guest today, Stephanie Olson, shares her story of childhood trauma. It led to some rough years in young adulthood until she found her way back to herself with God’s help. Now she is living a purposeful life by using her painful experiences to reach out to help others. Midlife is a good time for us to consider if past trauma is holding us back today, and if we’re ready to heal it.

In this episode:

  • Making peace with our age
  • Stephanie’s work and how it has been evolving over time
  • We may not realize we’ve experienced trauma when we compare our experience to others

A Tale of Two Prayers [62]

How do you know if you received an answer to prayer and did the right thing? If you’ve ever thought that following God’s guidance means that everything should work out smoothly and then felt confused when it didn’t, I’ve got a couple of stories from my own life to share with you. I think about answers to prayer differently now, in a way that gives much more space for our real human experience along the way. And it allows for God to provide something even more meaningful than what we asked for.

In this episode:

  • Sometimes in midlife we've had some prayer experiences that leave us a little faith-scarred.
  • What I learned from two very different moving experiences
  • Not making assumptions about what a prayer means

A Simple System to Keep You on Track [64]

We all have insights that come to us about how we can experience life better, and times when we envision achieving a goal so clearly. We're so excited about it! Then our life and our mind are so busy that we forget and lose touch with it. That radiant light dims, that clarity gets fuzzy. And then your life just doesn't reach the level that seemed so clear and possible in the moment. It doesn’t have to be that way! I’ll walk you through my system for keeping those powerful insights top of mind where they can actually keep me motivated and guide my life.

In this episode:

  • Creating your own Compass
  • What’s in my Compass – what do you want in yours?
  • You don’t have to do this perfectly to get big results from it
