MemeryMission

There once was some Voyager lore,

Not Star Trek, cuz that is a bore!

All true stories,

Our minivans’ glories,

Complete with a falling off door!

There are a few things that driving hoopties provide us and those are character building life lessons. They’ve taught us how to be patient, how to be flexible, and even how to put out a fire. I'm sure you and your friends and family have shared countless stories of these hoopties and the memories behind them, so I’m sure you’ll have a connection to our stories.

Most of us have owned a beater, a bucket, a junker, clunker, hooptie, and I’m sure most of those cars have rusted out, caught on fire, flooded, or met its demise in another memorable. way. I'm sure you and your friends and family have shared countless stories of these hoopties and the memories behind them, so I’m sure you’ll have a connection to our stories.

Character Building Hoopties Part 1 - "Fire, Water, & Plenty of Smoke"

There once was a wise mom

Who stated with much calm.

“Character’s built.”

She showed no guilt

As her boy drove away in a bomb!

When I used to complain about driving a car that I had to push the gas AND the brake AT THE EXACT SAME TIME so it didn’t die, my mom said, “Matthew... it builds character.” Over the next two episodes, you’ll hear memories about how character is built, built through our relationships with our cars

Jalopy, beater, bucket, junker, clunker, hooptie, we’ve all owned them.... cars that have rusted out, fell apart, caught on fire, and even blown up. I guarantee that over the years, you and your friends and family have shared countless stories of these hoopties and the memories behind them.

I hope you enjoy and feel a connection to our character building hooptie memories over the next two episodes.

Creeks, Caves, & Hank Jr.

T’was a wild weekend that fall.

Bad choices had come to call.

Hank Jr. singin’

And cave wall clingin’.

Single-digit IQs shown by all.

When we purchased Hank Williams Jr. concert tickets our senior year of high school in September of 1995, we had NO clue that this weekend would be one that we will never forget. What you’ll hear in this episode, is my good friend Mike and I sharing the story behind our September 1995 trek from South Bend, to Bloomington, to Kentucky, to Bloomington, to Indianapolis, to Bloomington, to a cave, and back to South Bend, all....... in a little more than 48 hours. And all.... at 17 years of age.
