S1E4 British sport reacts to Tokyo 2020 postponement
Medals & More - a conversation with Dame Katherine Grainger04/22/20 • 44 min
The Olympic and Paralympic Games scheduled for 2020 have been postponed to 2021 by the International Olympic Committee, International Paralympic Committee and local organisers in Tokyo.
This was as a result of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
It means that the bodies behind Team GB and Para GB now have to re-organise their arrangements and logistics for the games. It also means UK Sport - the Government Agency which manages the funding of sport in this country now needs to look at how to fund Olympic and Paralympic sport through to 2021.
In this episode of Medals and More, the chair of UK Sport Dame Katherine Grainger speaks to the respective CEO's of the organisations responsible for dealing with the current challenges. She is joined by Andy Anson - the CEO of the British Olympic Association, Mike Sharrock - the CEO of the British Paralympic Association and Sally Munday - the CEO of UK Sport.
The podcast was recorded in mid-April 2020 with all the participants joining the discussion remotely from home.
