Measure Twice, Cut Once

Send us a text

Kim Soper of Feel Good Fibers gives us some really good life lessons here! "It's about BETTER, not PERFECT".... and "if your space is small you have to have less stuff". Those are words to live by!
Kim has some really transformative thoughts about creating a crafting space that you love and that inspires you, plus she offers concrete help in this area to sewists. De-cluttering, self-care, using and re-using, studio re-sets....these are just a few of the super helpful topics she covers.
You really should check out the fabric shop on her website - it's unlike anything I've seen before. It's peer-to-peer fabric shopping, providing a place for sewists to pass on fabric they don't love any more, and find new enthusiasm in someone else's previously loved yardage.

Want to try free motion quilting but don't know where to start? Here's 3 simple steps to get going.

Are you looking to ADVANCE your machine quilting skills?
Machine quilting can be very solitary, especially on a longarm. It's just not that easy to pack up your machine and head to a friend's house for the day, right? But it's important to have that community - that sharing of ideas and tips, encouragement and motivation.

Meri Witmer - Master Crafter

Meri and I have been sisters-in-law for over 30 years, so we share a lot of crafting history. She's not afraid to try things - from beekeeping to shearing sheep and carding wool to knitting socks to soap-making to toothbrush rug-making....she's tried 'em all. I think we forgot to talk about mummifying a chicken with the homeshooled grandkids - but, yeah, she's done that too. We'll save that for next time!

Veruschka Zarate - FPP Portraits

Today's guest is Verushka Zarate. She creates portraits, from fabric, that have got to be seen to be believed!
In this episode we chat about Verushka's inspiration (remarkable people), her design process (drafting...color palette choices...the detailed foundation paper piecing) and her personal Pride and Joy (her sons).
Be sure to check out her Instagram link below for a tour of the stunning finished ones, plus many behind-the-scenes looks at her creative process.
Verushka has a heart for teaching so she's created a YouTube channel with tons of helpful tips, and honestly, full-fledged courses on EPP. And bonus! If you need a little pick-me-up, the sounds of her boys in the background will be sure to do it! And lastly, her patterns are available for purchase in her Etsy shop.
