In this podcast I talk with Reme Mancera, a strategist who specializes in helping her clients create "Personal Brand Stories."
In today's noisy, cluttered marketplace it can feel daunting to create a brand identity that is distinctive let alone one that authentically reflects who you are. Reme uses a specific framework to lead clients through their stories then helps them turn these stories into brands and offers.
Reme combines her warm and creativity with practical, strategic, smart business practices. She is a delight to be with!

Marketing Root Work Podcast - Why Allowing People to Fail Empowers Them
play

One of the harder lessons I’ve learned is that sometimes the very best thing we can do is to allow people to fail.
It is not our job to rescue clients and customers when they make less-than-ideal decisions. In fact, I’d argue when our motive is to rescue someone because we think they’re making a mistake, it’s all about us feeling good. It is not about empowering the other person.
When a client fails and experiences negative consequences, it feels awful to me because I like my clients and I want them to be successful. My hope is always that they will learn from their mistakes and do better the next time and they get to own that success, too.

There are a lot of dynamics, internal and external that suggest we should worry about the people who don't like/aren't interested in our creations and services. Unfortunately when we focus on the "no's" we stay small and invisible.
To connect with the people who genuinely want our creations and services it's important we focus on the yeses regardless of the pressure to do otherwise.

Marketing Root Work Podcast - How to Remind People (But Not Be Annoying)
play

When you email or post an offer or invitation, most people will ignore it or forget about it even if they are genuinely interested and would benefit by saying yes.
This is because people are incredibly busy and usually pay attention only to the things that are calling the loudest for their immediate response.
This means we, business owners, need to send reminders. Reminders increase the possibility that the people who want what you're offering will see and respond to your offer.
We do, of course risk annoying some people and they will unsubscribe. Here is my approach to creating reminders that feel clear and respectful AND reach the right people.

Small businesses and solopreneurs often use marketing as a way to make themselves look good; like they've got it together and offer huge value.
Ironically, this often has the effect of pushing people away. We're so focused on making ourselves look cool and amazing that we end up intimidating our audience; making them feel unsafe. The opposite of what we most desire!
In this podcast, I talk about tendency to look amazing and leave our clients out of our messages and ways we can create more trust and safety so our right-fit clients feel good about us and truly want to take next steps to work with us.

Despite the economic uncertainty, people are still buying things. They are still buying services with less tangible outcomes. I know coaches and therapists and healers who are doing quite well in 2025. Truly.

In fact, I’d argue that if you are offering deeply personal services to help and heal people they need what you offer even more.
