We've got all these opinions about ourselves and compare ourselves to everyone around. We think that means that we don't love ourselves. I think the problem is we don't really know what loving ourselves means. For me, it means just being in the present moment with myself and not having judgments at all. When we don't judge ourselves, we're having compassion for ourselves. Sometimes we don't like ourselves very much when we’re suffering immensely. But then we really desire people to understand us. Or we might defend our problem sometimes. There is somewhere in you that does think that you're worthy and that you're worth not being treated this way. If you feel that sense of worth somewhere deep inside, you do have self-love. We're alive and our life has some purpose. Right now, it may not feel like it has purpose, but we can change that in a heartbeat. If you get caught up in all those negative self-judgments about yourself, you’ll really feel like you don't like yourself when that's not even the case. You are a human being in this world, you're worthy and you are amazing. Thank you so much for listening!

What To Do When You Are So Tired Of Being Afraid All The Time

Read transcription of podcast here: http://jodiaman.tumblr.com/post/13221...You know how fear stops you from going out with your friends or trying something new? Those skills and those talents that you have – fear stops you from sharing those with the world. This doesn’t feel good and it’s really upsetting to you. Many times we hate to think that we’re missing out on stuff, so we just say we don’t really care about it and use excuses like, “there’s just no point.” But, there is a point. There’s a huge purpose to doing all kinds of stuff. Connecting to other people, experiencing new things, and developing ourselves is what life is all about and we don’t want to miss out on that. Here are four things that you could do when you are sick and tired of letting fear stop you in your life: 1. Commit to getting over your fear. It’s deciding that you want to do this and you’re not going to let anything stop you. People all the time overcome their fears, overcome their anxiety or any of these kind of problems. And don’t say that you’re worse than all of them because I swear, you’re not. 2. Break it down. Fear has all kinds of power and its built itself up in your mind and in your life. It builds itself up with all kinds of evidence that you feel is true and tells you you should be afraid. Anxiety gets so invasive in our heads. We have to clarify what we’re afraid of. The anxiety usually doesn’t have too much beyond it and if we break that down we could see that there’s not as much to be afraid of.3. Take action. Do something, even if you’re just pacing back and forth. Go take a walk or pace, any repeating movement will help you feel better. Take action in terms of contributing to whatever you’re afraid of. Do something that would counter that fear or counter the result of that. When we’re paralyzed in fear or feel helpless, the fear just gets bigger. We have to take some action to help it go down. 4. Love yourself through it. This is not something to beat yourself up about. It happens to all of us. This is something so many people feel and you can feel better. I’ve got myself over the worst anxiety that I ever heard of. I loved myself through it, so I want you to love yourself through it too. If you do these four things, commit to it, break it down, take action and love yourself through it, you will find that you are going to get better.Thank you so much for listening!

How To Silence Your Inner Critic

Read the transcription of this podcast here: http://jodiaman.tumblr.com/post/13307...Do you have that inner critic that is just driving you crazy every day? “You can't do this. They're not going to like you. You can't handle it.” Does this sound familiar? This kind of berating is going through our minds all the time. It’s not helping us in this world. This is so awful. Can you imagine if somebody else was saying that to you? You can silence your inner critic. It just takes a little bit of discipline and practice. When that critic comes into your mind, expect it. When you start to doubt and judge yourself negatively, expect it and have some compassion for yourself. We all want some understanding and validation. If we don't have validation, we hold on to things really tightly. If we give ourselves that validation, we can let it go really easily. I've always tried to get validation from other people. Then, I realized I could just validate myself by giving myself some compassion. Our life is about what we pay attention to, so if you want to shine, focus on paying attention to the things that help you do that.
