Do you ever wonder why anxiety comes out of the blue? You know that stress, anxiety, and overwhelming feeling we sometimes feel when we weren't even doing anything that caused it? This often leads us to really judge ourselves and think something's wrong with us. We may even think we're crazy or mentally ill. You are not crazy and you are not mentally ill. This is what is happening – You know that our fear is biological. It’s a biological response to something dangerous in our environment or a perceived danger in our environment. What many people don't actually know is the amygdala, that little part of our brain that triggers the parasympathetic nervous system response, works on body memory. So if our body remembers something is dangerous or there's some correlation between our body memory and something in the past that has been dangerous before, either emotionally or physically, it begins to trigger that response. In this episode, I'm going to tell you what you can do when this happens and why there is nothing wrong with you.Thank you so much for listening!

How To Think About World Trauma
Fan me on FB: http://facebook.com/jodiamanloveFollow me on twitter: http://twitter.com/jodiamanFind out about my online anxiety recovery programs:http://givefeartheboot.comhttp://givefearthebootkids.comRead summary of this podcast at http://jodiaman.com/how-to-think-a...t-world-trauma/ and add to the discussion! Read transcription of this podcast here: http://jodiaman.tumblr.com/post/13499...Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by all the trauma happening in the world? There’s so much war going on, and then there’s earthquakes and tsunamis and all these other things happening in our world. It can make us feel so overwhelmed and stressed out. Do you know why it’s overwhelming? It's because we feel like it’s happening to us. We have this skill in empathy that we can feel what other people are feeling. When we see people suffering we feel like it's us. Sometimes we get so frozen in this fear and overwhelm that it holds us back from doing things that could help the situations out in the world. We get so stuck being overwhelmed by all the trauma that we’re frozen in our lives. So then, we’re not happy and we’re not helping anybody. It’s like a lose-lose situation. When we’re frozen in our trauma and fear, we’re no good to anybody. You have some things to help the world and I have some things to help the world. We don’t want all that fear and stress to overwhelm us so we can’t shine through and make the world a better place. Today I talk about how I deal with trauma and how it may help you deal with it, too. If you can take a step back and see everything symbolically, then maybe you can take steps to educate yourself and think about what you can do to make changes towards peace in the world.
