Concept labs is an innovative and sustainable manufacturing facility on the Sunshine Coast, producing cosmetic, skin care and cleaning products, while embracing their responsibility to co-create a world where each of us, our communities and our planet can flourish.

Whites IGA first partnered with Concept Labs in 1998, their first year in business. Concept Labs founder, Barry Jackson, walked into our humble little convenience store in Mooloolaba to sell his Sunshine Coast-made sunscreen, and as they say, the rest is history. Whites IGA and concept labs continue to enjoy a long and enduring supplier/retailer relationship which has also grown into a family friendship.

We continue to stock a range of concept labs locally produced products some 24 years on. Now, at the Concept Labs helm is Barry and Sue's daughter Naomi, General Manager. I am excited to welcome Naomi to our locavore podcast to share their story.

Welcome to my locavore podcast - I’m Roz White and this is the podcast where we dig deep into the stories behind the hundreds of locally sourced, artisan, bespoke and innovative products available to you in one location at White’s IGA on the Sunshine Coast.

Our locavore program was officially launched in 2013 to showcase and highlight to our customers, where their food and goodies come from and help connect them to the families who create it.

Imagine a valley, nestled in the Noosa hinterland that is lined with hops and parted by a stream of crystal-clear water. When the heavens open, the stream breaks its banks and washes through the hops imparting their beautiful flavours to create what we now know as, Hop Valley H2O.

These words from Heads of Noosa, a 100% Australian owned brewery based in the beautiful shire of Noosa, represent the sheer innovative thinking behind a carefully handcrafter brewed beverage which can be always enjoyed, is incredibly versatile and is beautifully refreshing...... It is an Australian first, hop infused sparkling water that contains zero sugar and zero alcohol. I am joined by co-founder Craig Masterton and Head of Sales, John Cranley to tell us all about it, welcome gentlemen.

Every once in a while you come across an idea so simple, you wonder why you didn’t think of it earlier. And so it was, when four Sunshine Coast macadamia growers passionate about their product founded Nutworks in 1993. The idea? To create a central facility purpose-built to crack and sort the region’s macadamias for supply to local businesses.

As a result of this kernel of an idea, Nutworks was born. The original processing plant was built in the Noosa Hinterland at Verrierdale, and supplied hand-sorted raw kernel to local stores for roasting and flavouring.

As with all great business ideas, it didn’t take long for the venture to really take off. Due to ever increasing demand for Nutworks’ products, a new processing factory was built in Yandina in 1996 to enable significantly higher production volumes. As part of the major redevelopment, a café, retail shop and tourist facilities were also incorporated into the new Nutworks.

What’s more, 2002 saw a further evolution as Nutworks began production of chocolate and confectionery products. As a result, our wide variety of chocolates and sweets now form an integral part of our range.

Welcome Sarah...

And so from humble beginnings, Nutworks has now grown to employ over 60 people. Our products are exported worldwide, and we are recognised globally for our commitment to quality. We will continue to grow, but will always remain faithful to the passion instilled in our company by our founders over 20 years ago.

Panoramic vistas, rolling hills, fresh running water through creeks snaking down from the hinterland through lush green bushland. A magnificent setting in any order but perhaps also, the perfect place to make cheese. This was the philosophy of original founders; Graeme & Karen Paynter and it certainly is now for current owner and cheesemaker Beth O’Leary.

Handcrafted in one of our countries most beautiful regions, award winning Woombye Cheese is produced on the Sunshine Coast using raw product from happy cows, using traditional methods and care.

From the first batch in 2013 to now, Woombye Cheese can be found on the menus of some of Australia’s top restaurants and around the country.

It is my sincere pleasure to welcome Woombye Cheese owner, Beth to share this wonderful story with us Welcome Beth!

Emmanuel is the third-generation chef in his family who grew up and trained in Grasse, France.

Emmanuel learnt a lot about food and cookery from his French grandfather, Pépé Leon,

who started working in kitchens at the very early age of 14 and his Italian side of the family where food always brought the large family together.

Pépé Léon's Kitchen has been focusing on bringing the best of Emmanuel's family recipes and adapting to gluten free without compromising on quality and flavours.

Pasta is the main focus for now but there is always something we are working on to bring more products that gluten-free people can eat safely and non-gluten-free can enjoy as well.
