BONUS - Book Suggestion For January 2025 - Mel Robbins - The Let Them Theory
Mel Robbins' latest book, "The Let Them Theory," offers a refreshingly simple yet powerful approach to personal growth and empowerment. At its core, the book revolves around two words: "Let Them," which Robbins presents as a transformative tool for reclaiming control over one's life
Key Concepts
The central premise of "The Let Them Theory" is that by relinquishing the need to control others' perceptions, actions, and feelings, individuals can significantly enhance their own well-being and relationships. Robbins argues that many of our frustrations and limitations stem from giving too much power to external factors and other people's opinions
Structure and Content
Robbins breaks down her theory into eight key areas of life where it can be applied for maximum impact
Throughout the book, she employs a blend of:
- Relatable personal anecdotes
- Practical advice
- Scientific research
- Insights from experts in psychology, neuroscience, and relationships
This multi-faceted approach helps readers understand and implement the "Let Them" philosophy in various aspects of their lives.
Writing Style
Written in Robbins' characteristic no-nonsense style, the book is designed to be easily digestible and actionable
Her straightforward approach may seem overly simplistic to some, but Robbins embraces this simplicity, arguing that complicated solutions are often less effective
Impact and Application
"The Let Them Theory" aims to help readers:
- Stop wasting energy on uncontrollable factors
- Break free from self-doubt and fear
- Build stronger relationships
- Pursue personal goals with confidence
- Develop resilience against everyday stressors
"The Let Them Theory" is a valuable addition to the self-help genre, offering a simple yet potentially life-changing tool for personal empowerment. Robbins' engaging writing style, combined with her practical approach and scientific backing, makes this book accessible and potentially transformative for a wide audience. Whether you're looking to improve relationships, advance your career, or simply find more happiness in life, "The Let Them Theory" provides a fresh perspective on achieving personal freedom and success

E432 - Roxanne McCarty-O'Kane - Ignite Your Passion and Write Your Book, Ghost Writing and Coaching
Living The Next Chapter: Inspiring Conversations with Bestselling Authors and Writing Experts

Episode 432 - Roxanne McCarty-O'Kane - Ignite Your Passion and Write Your Book, Ghost Writing and Coaching
I am a qualified journalist who has written for a number of newspapers, magazines and e-zines and am what you would call a jack of all trades.
I ‘published’ my first book when I was in my final year of primary school. It was aptly called School Journal Part 4 Number 2 and had a strong ocean theme, with short stories, articles and poetry about sea life. It featured a cardboard cover that held stapled paper pages and this was the first and only time I have ever accompanied my words with illustrations (and for good reason...).
An avid bookworm beforehand, this project earned me an A++ and provided the initial spark for a future career in writing.
Rain, hail, or shine, they always received their papers and being in the land of the long white cloud, it often meant arriving home from deliveries soaked-through.
Fast forward to today and I have been a professional storyteller since 2007. My first era was as a qualified print media journalist. My second era as an award-winning nonfiction book ghostwriter and writing mentor began in 2018.
Since then, I have had the privilege of assisting people of all ages and all walks of life to showcase their expertise or share their incredible life stories in books that are changing the world. I have helped each and every one of them move through the perceived challenges that prevent many from taking the first steps to authorship.
Helping people to find their spark and become brave enough to share it with the world is my fuel. Guiding people to find their voice and share their message in a powerful way that connects and transforms is my why. Processing large volumes of information and a lifetime worth of stories is my passion. Providing guidance and structured order to the myriad ideas buzzing around in the mind of an aspiring author is my gift.
Making ghostwriting clients feel safe during my interviews (and knowing which questions to prompt them with) is my superpower.
Whether it’s ‘How to make $1 million’ or ‘My journey through breast cancer’, every book has the potential to resonate deeply with people if it is crafted in the right way and written from the heart.
I look forward to supporting you in any way you need to get the story off your heart and into the world, where it can serve, change lives, inspire, educate and even give your bank account a healthy boost!

E48 - Merle Saferstein Author of Living and Leaving My Legacy, vol. 1 - The Power of a Journal
Living The Next Chapter: Inspiring Conversations with Bestselling Authors and Writing Experts
08/29/22 • 30 min
EPISODE 48 -
Connection with others has always been most important to me, so I welcome you to my website. I’m delighted that you’re here and hope you will find something meaningful that sparks your interest. If you do and would like to talk about it, please contact me.
Before you read on, you might want to watch a few of the clips from an interview I did with Raymond Ellman, the founding editor-in-chief of Inspicio Arts, an arts publication sponsored by Florida International University’s College of Communication, Architecture, and the Arts. Within these short clips, you will be introduced to my work with Holocaust survivors, a sacred legacy journal project I did for the daughter of a friend who had died, some of my educational experiences, my journaling, and more.
In 2012, I completed Room 732, my debut collection of short stories based on the Hollywood Beach Hotel. Ever since 1984, with each walk I took along the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, I thought about writing this book. I never lost sight of that goal and finally cleared the space to sit down and make it happen.
After twenty years of working on my legacy journal project, I published Living and Leaving My Legacy, Vol. 1. —a legacy journal for this and future generations. In reading through 359 of my journals, I came to understand the value and impact of journaling as well as the importance of sharing the essence of who I am. I do so in the hopes that readers will look at my life as a mirror into their own. My ultimate goal is to help people understand that how we live our lives becomes our legacy.

E76 - Alison Tedford - Indigenous Author (Kwakiutl First Nation)
Living The Next Chapter: Inspiring Conversations with Bestselling Authors and Writing Experts
10/09/22 • 33 min
EPISODE 76 -
Our guest today is Alison Tedford is an author, consultant and a mom. I’m Indigenous (Kwakiutl First Nation) and based in Abbotsford, BC. I have over a decade of government experience contributing to culturally sensitive data storytelling, policy analysis and program development and seven years of private sector experience creating information products that educate, inform and delight.
I’ve helped entrepreneurs, governments and brand leaders design their visions of inclusion, strategize about how to get there with practical, concrete action and find the words to talk about it. I create an inviting space where questions are encouraged and welcome and that allows for growth and experimentation.
Doing Good and Telling Better Stories
I take an intersectional approach and collaborate with non-profits and businesses that honour that Black, Trans and Indigenous Lives Matter, that disability access is a right not a privilege and that further the equality of women. I believe in creating an affinity based on shared values to create a committed community instead of driving action through fear, pity and shame.
The Right Words At The Right Time
I believe in telling stories that centre the strength of communities that are served, sharing perspectives respectfully, through consent-based practices and in a way that’s culturally sensitive. The best way we can respect our partners, the people who benefit from social impact work, is to share about these collaborations in a way that is anti-exploitative, does not centre narratives of saviorism and protects the dignity of all involved.
