In this one, I’m talking to Celebrant, Shelley Jackson-Woodall. If you don’t know what a Celebrant does, you’re in for an interesting episode. Shelley shares what loss means to her, and how attending her first humanist ceremony, led her to understanding the diverse ways we can celebrate end of life.

We talk openly about the topic of death and funerals, exploring this “taboo” subject as a first on the podcast. We also discuss grief and her experience of working with families in the early days of bereavement, and Shelley offers some great tips to help you through the immediate loss.

Season 4 – Episode #1. The One with Mel Wakeman.

At the start of season 4, I’m talking to registered Nutritional Consultant, Mel Wakeman. She’s also known as the “Freedom Food Fighter”.

For Mel, loss is about 2 things – food and her body. She describes how her relationship with food began when her dad, who she idolised, walked out. What followed, was the feeling that she has lost control and it’s really interesting to hear how this manifested for Mel and her take on food relationships now.

This episode is also packed with the usual insights and tips which follows the themes of; how we can grieve for our bodies, and the relationships we develop with food.

In this episode, I’m talking to Lisa Berry – founder and owner of Cheeky Little Prints. For the first time ever on the podcast, we’re talking about pet loss.

Lisa shares her childhood and adulthood experiences of losing pets in very different circumstances. She also talks about what’s it like to have a conversation with children about losing a pet. There’s lots of great tips in this show.

Lisa has always loved animals and set up Cheeky Little Prints in April 2009 after training as a veterinary nurse. She is a mum to two boys and feels passionate about helping people to capture the family pet’s unique paw print. In 2019, she was featured on local radio as part of a national campaign to bring awareness of pet loss to employers.
