Lies People Tell

In this episode, I explain the new direction the podcast is going. Starting next week, the podcast will focus on detection of deception i.e., how to know when you are being lied to or deceived. I will use statements from criminal investigations, such as Casey Anthony or George Zimmerman, to show how deceptive language was used in the statement and how it can be applied to our everyday interactions. Think of this new podcast direction as being where self help meets true crime.

Susan Smith and the 3 Parts of a Story

In this episode, I explain how every story has 3 parts, the Prologue, the Incident, and the Epilogue and how the length of each is a good indicator of truthfulness or deception. I then use a statement of an alleged armed robbery to illustrate what this looks like. I then analyze the Susan Smith statement when she killed her children while claiming to have been carjacked. Enjoy!
