In January 2020, California introduced its new privacy law, the California Consumer Privacy Act, or CCPA. The new law is intended to increase consumer privacy rights and protection. Shortly before the law went into effect, LexLab hosted a panel of consumer privacy experts to discuss the history of California privacy laws, and the expected impact of the new CCPA.
Panelists this week are:
Prof. Dr. Lothar Determann - Partner at Baker & McKenzie and adjunct professor at UC Hastings
Alexandra Ross - Director, Global Privacy and Data Security Counsel at Autodesk
Rehan Jalil - President and CEO of SECURITI.ai
Mary Stone Ross - Former President of Californians for Consumer Privacy & co-author of the initiative that became the CCPA
