Lewis & Friends: Curious Conversations with Leaders in Sustainable Fashion

Bandana Tewari is a lifestyle journalist and sustainability activist.
She writes for The Business of Fashion extensively on a variety of topics from indigenous ‘made-by-hand’ economies of India and Indonesia, to transgender and LGBTQ representation in fashion. For Paro Good Earth, her writing focusses on ancient Indian wisdom—Vedanta.
She is a Special Advisor to Copenhagen Fashion Summit and sits on several advisory boards—NEST (NYC), Redress (Hong Kong), Global Fashion Agenda (Stockholm), South Asian Fashion Show (NYC) amongst others.
Bandana is a TEDx speaker. She travels the world speaking in conferences about mindfulness in the luxury business, with a special focus on Gandhi & Fashion—a speech that focuses on sartorial integrity. Her speaker assignments have taken her to countries as varied as Berlin, Sydney, Kolkata and Jakarta amongst others.
As Vogue India’s Editor-at-Large for 13 years, Bandana was responsible for planning, visualizing and ideating fashion features for the ultimate style bible. Her ringside view of the rapidly evolving industry coupled with her signature ability to take the long view in every commentary has made her one of India’s foremost authorities on fashion and lifestyle.
Bandana’s pieces have also appeared in well-regarded publications such as The New York Times, Vogue Arabia, Harper’s Bazaar India, US Vogue, UK Vogue, Wallpaper*, and Tank, in addition to several leading Indian journals such as Platform, Hindustan Times and The Hindu. She has scripted and hosted 50 episodes of ‘Simply Style” the first fashion series in Indian television, as well as the first series of fashion webisodes online.

Adriana Galijasevic - designer, action researcher, innovator, educator and an advocate for circular economy in the fashion industry

Adriana Galijasevic is a designer, action researcher, innovator, educator and an advocate for circular economy in the fashion industry based on the Cradle to Cradle design principles. Before starting as an independent consultant, she spent the last decade working with G-Star RAW in an interdepartmental expert role. Here, she collaborated with design, merchandising and with the sustainability team to drive and implement sustainable material targets and circular economy innovations within G-Star RAW’s collections. To accomplish this, Adriana focused on leading the sustainability research, circular product innovation as well as internal and external education.
Her pioneering work for the brand has received a global recognition and has been featured by Forbes, United Nations, London Design Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum. In 2019, she was selected for Rivets Influential 50, an index of the most creative and forward- thinking leaders driving the global jeanswear industry.
Adriana graduated from Drexel University in 2002 with a major in Fashion Design and a minor in Art History. In 2007, she moved from NYC to Amsterdam to further specialize in 17th century Dutch Art at the University of Amsterdam. Prior to G-Star, she worked as a Head Denim Designer in NYC for celebrity brands, Tina & Beyonce Knowles’ House of Deréon, Eve Jihan Jeffers’ Fetish, and Jay-Z’s Rocawear.
Her love for denim prompted her to start up a Denim Institute in 2008. In collaboration with other denim enthusiasts and educational organizations, the institute’s mission was to research the past, confront the present, and open doors to future innovations in sustainable denim design and production.
Adriana is one of the SDG Catalysts at Circular Fashion Summit by lablaco. She also serves on the House of Denim International Advisory Board, Advisory Board for ArtEZ Fashion Professorship and Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation
