Lets Have This Conversation - The Proof is in the Progress with: Philip James
play

10/12/23 • 44 min

One of the keys to self improvement in life from a personal and societal perspective is your commitment to yourself. According to transformational coach and fitness enthusiast Philip James:

“I am a True believer that we all are the authors of our life and its up to us to write the greatest story ever told! I’m 35 years young married to my beautiful wife and we have a 2 1/2 year old son together. Most people live an ordinary life due to lack of leaders speaking on possibility, creation and truly living it! We are a thriving Family unit because of brutal honesty and truth. I started my initial career at 19 as a hair stylist working in Beverly Hills CA and New York ...working with celebrities , fashion moguls , Television and Film ( through this I met some of the top people, in their respected industry's sharing sometimes hours , gaining insight and perspective into their personal life realizing more often than not they were experiencing outside pleasure without internal love ) making them feel good about their hair was temporary and the outside validation would fade fast , something I experienced all too often . It wasn't until my wife and I had our son that I realized I was pleasure seeking to escape my current reality as often as I could diving into alcohol and other vices. I hit a hard reality with truth and realized I needed to be more for my wife, son and people, around me. There is a need right now for men and husbands to take accountability to live a purposeful life over a pleasure seeking life. It all starts within; our life is a mirror and not a window. How we view ourselves is how we view the world, and we must be a net positive if we are to see real change in the world. The real change is our daily habits Mindset, Fitness and Nutrition. It's changed my relationship with life, my family, my son and loved ones. We are the most connected in love family we know and I want others to experience this feeling too. My mission is to see people WIN at LIFE, that we are all powerful beyond measure and we are one decision away from changing the trajectory of our family tree.” He joined me this week to tell me more.

Lets Have This Conversation - Building more Resilient People in the Workplace with: Helen Honisett
play

02/23/23 • 36 min

According to LinkedIn’s 2019 Workforce Learning Report, 94 percent of employees say that they would stay at a company longer if it simply invested in helping them learn. Helen Honisett is a seasoned and successful business leader who helps solve complex business problems by getting the right people in the right places doing the right things at the right time. She does this by instilling strong leadership skills and behaviours at all levels of the organisation.
Helen is the author of the book Defy Expectations, that looks at how leading with love, integrity and trust can build and bond teams much more effectively than traditional methods. In fact, the methodology described in the book lead to a 12% growth of sales revenue and a 2% decrease in overall cost when last implemented.
For all of her career she has studied how we learn as individuals and professionals, from early years through to adulthood. What motivates us to perform, to grow and reach our potential? How do we engage as individuals and as a team? Recently she has seen and experienced a growing need amongst corporates and SMEs to really understand what drives their employees to deliver their best and consequently meet and exceed business goals.
Her passion for ensuring everyone achieves their potential is what drives her. She loves finding out what makes each person tick and working with her is always a revelation, both personally and professionally. As one of her clients once said "I never fully understood how my mindset was impacting my success. Increasing my self-awareness and tweaking my behaviours significantly improved my performance and productivity at work. These are not topics you usually cover in mentoring or training - but they should be!"
As part of her work she has focussed on two functions within an organisation; Sales and Organisational Excellence. By building a motivated and highly functional sales team revenue and profit goals are hit and often exceeded. By ensuring the organisation has the behaviours, mindset, skills and techniques to manage and motivate through change the business can continue to evolve without the risk of disengaging the workforce.
Helen lives in Oxford with her 2 sons, Sam and Josh. When not building train tracks or visiting Cotswold Wildlife Park, Helen enjoys spending her time practising yoga, running, and travelling. She joined me this week to tell me more.

In fact, 53% of parents say that mom is the primary caregiver in their home, according to data provided to CNBC Make It from UrbanSitter’s recent survey of nearly 500 parents. Less than a third of parents surveyed agreed that caring for the kids is split evenly among both parents.

But juggling child-care challenges with work responsibilities takes a toll. There were about 35 million working mothers in the U.S. at the end of 2019 and roughly 9.8 million working mothers in the U.S. are suffering from workplace burnout, according to a new analysis Great Place to Work and health-care start-up Maven conducted based on its survey of 440,000 working parents, including 226,000 mothers. Michelle DeKeyser is a teacher, wife and mom of three kids who participated in various mom groups, ran a few, even joined some book clubs, but envisioned something different as she found herself looking around still wondering what did she like to do anymore that didn’t involve the kid’s activities. As she worked to discover her own passions, she realized that there is no one size fits all program, but the true key to figuring out your passion and making your goals happen is finding connection in a supportive environment. Therefore, her new mission is to help other mamas find their passions while being more present with their families in a supportive empowering environment surrounded by grace. She has started spreading this message through YouTube, Instagram, and her Blog. She holds a MA in education and spent 8 years dedicated to the classroom before having a family. She joined me this week to tell me more.
