Left of Str8 Podcasts

Today’s Show we have the start to Spooky Season happening. For the month of October, at least one of my two interviews each week will be from the realm of Horror or True Crime. I am excited today to bring back to the show, the amazing Producer, Director and Author, Sam Irvin is joining me again. We talked in Sam’s last interview about his friendship and working with the lovely Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, Cassandra Peterson. He directed her campy movie, “Elvira’s Haunted Hills” and he has directed so many fun and spooky horror projects on both Television and the Silver Screen. Last time he was on we also talked about his book, a memoir, “I Was A Teenage Monster Hunter.” The book talked all about his growing up and interviewing a virtual who’s who in the horror industry. Now, he has a new book, a behind the scenes of “Frankenstein A True Story,” that was a two part miniseries on television with some of the most queer infused content produced at the time. So much so, the behind the scenes team called themselves the Lavender Mob. Sam also gives us the name of an up and coming filmmaker to be on the watch for.

Left of Str8 Show: "5 Questions with Luke Deardurff, Jonathan Mayo and Salah Bachir

Today’s Show we have our weekly Bonus Segment, “5 Questions With...”, where we add 5 more random and often silly questions to our special interview guests from the previous week. First up in the hot seats are Entrepreneurs and Best Friends, Luke Deardurff and Jonathan Mayo. Luke is an amazing pastry chef who won this year’s Spring Baking Championship on the Food Network. He is taking his winnings and opening a new business, High End Bakery Edibles, that will be opening soon in NYC. His best friend Jonathan Mayo created an oral history project called “Cleaning Closets,” that told stories from both sides of the closet door, lgbtq+ people coming out of the closet and their friends and loved ones on the other side who are affected by their coming out. He has now founded a new entertainment company, creating events and other productions.

Secondly, Coming back this week is Media Mogul, Philanthropist, Art Collector, and now Author, Salah Bachir, who’s new book is coming out in just 2 short weeks and is titled, “First to Leave the Party: My Life with Ordinary People... Who Happen to be Famous.”

Be sure to check out my guest’s Website at: www.highendbakeryedibles.com www.mayollc.today and www.salahbachir.com and you can find them on Social Media here: @ldpastry @jstarchicago and @pash_bachir.
