Cliff Buford stepped into his first leadership role at 22 years old within Ground Operations of a major US airline. Over the course of 11 years, Cliff had much success in leadership. He decided to ditch the traditional style of leadership years ago and doing that has allowed him to be revered as one of the most well-thought leaders in his profession amongst his peers and the people that he has led.
Born and raised in Chicago, IL Cliff has worked his way to Los Angeles, Ca where he now calls home. Cliff has led hundreds of career professionals throughout his career and is committed to helping each of them find their why.

On this week’s episode, I sit down with Dr. Raj Raghunathan, an award-winning Professor of Marketing at the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin who studies the impact that people’s judgments and decisions have on their own happiness and fulfillment. We talk about what he has learned throughout his studies on happiness in life and in the workplace from both a leader and employee perspective. We even dive into how to lean into happiness during this unprecedented time.
Dr. Raj has published a book, “If you’re so smart, why aren’t you happy?” that was released 2016. Based on his research, he also teaches a very successful online course on Coursera on Happiness, named A Life of Happiness And Fulfillment.
