Learning through Teaching | Eieri Jordan Salivia
05/01/20 • 61 min
I talk with a friend and colleague who inspires and motivates others to be their best self through coaching & teaching. Coaching in the athletic sense - but also in education in its true roots of the word: to bring out that which lies within. He is someone who is committed to self-mastery and to be of better service to those around him - through reading, learning, experimenting, teaching & expression. Not only does this lifelong cultivation provide more fulfillment, but also leads us to finding freedom in living a lifestyle in which we thrive through pushing ourselves to grow. I hope you enjoy this conversation and harvest some inspiration to put on your own teacher or coach hat and give yourself permission to share your experience with your community...
Eieri Jordan Salivia is a Soccer coach and Physical Education Instructor at Kellogg Community College in Michigan. He is a Puerto Rican native and former pro soccer player for the Romanian club Astra Ploiești. Show Update: Spring is here on our homestead and we're busy outdoors in the bright sun & fresh air after a long winter hibernation making the most of our short growing season. So that being said, I'll be doing shows roughly twice a month instead of weekly this spring & summer. Stay tuned for new shows every other Friday. Thanks for listening & enjoy the outdoors too!

Natural Farming + Masanobu Fukuoka
This is the first of many shows exploring different themes in Permaculture and related fields with audio clips, interviews & anything else I can find. I will still continue to record interviews as frequent as I can with incredible folks, but these shows are going to be more about the elders and roots of this movement. I could not think of a better person to start with than a wise sage from Japan named Masanobu Fukuoka and explore what 'Natural Farming' is all about...
"The ultimate goal of farming is not the growing of crops, but the cultivation and perfection of human beings."
About this show:
- 1:10 - 24:00: One Straw Revolution documentary about Masanobu Fukuoka - Credit: Rodale Press
- 24:00 - 47:30: Masanobu Fukuoka and Natural Farming interview with Larry Korn - Credit: City as Nature
- 47:30 - 53:40: Masanobu Fukuoka : The Limits of the Scientific Mind - Credit: Krishna McKenzie
Masanobu Fukuoka is considered a pioneer and father of the 'Natural Farming' movement. His ideas were also a leading inspiration for the concepts and principles of Permaculture. In this show I share some audio clips from different videos and interviews with and about Fukuoka explaining his natural farming philosophy. If you listen to this show in entirety, you will begin to understand his ideas extend much further beyond agriculture and apply to life and our relationship with Nature. Because of that, his unique approach has also been an incredible influence on our own relationship with Nature...Learn more and get a free download of his book, One Straw Revolution here >
