Ep #64 - What happens when you’re suddenly abandoned by your pack?

Loneliness is a universal human emotion that can often go unaddressed and underestimated in its impact. In a society where the focus is too often on productivity and success, acknowledging feelings of isolation and vulnerability can be perceived as a weakness. In this heartfelt episode, host and childfree Latina Paulette Erato shares her personal journey navigating the complicated emotions around loneliness in the wake of a health scare.

As she struggled with her health crisis, Paulette faced the harsh reality of toxic relationships that crumbled when faced with adversity. The loneliness she experienced was surprising, and painfully highlighted the stark contrast between surface-level connections and genuine support systems. Through tears and triumphs, Paulette learned the invaluable lesson of diversifying her communities to foster genuine connections.

Through vulnerability and introspection, Paulette sheds light on the challenges and growth that stemmed from these experiences, and why intentional community-building is essential.

Where Do I Belong? Childfree Life on the Margins with Amanda B. (Part 2)

Ep #63 - "Where are you from?" is a question asked all too often of people who are visibly "not white." So what does it mean to be American in a melting pot of immigrants?
Picking up where we left off last time, guest Amanda reflects back on her 5 years in Japan and we touch on certain taboo topics like:

  • race vs ethnicity vs nationality
  • how the Koreans are the Irish of Asia
  • governments' attacks on low birth rates
  • the cult of parenthood
  • parental regret

Host and childfree Latina Paulette and childfree guest Amanda continue to examine the cross-cultural parallels in their respective upbringings, how that led to successful partnerships with their husbands, and why the government wants to blame low birth rates for shrinking populations instead of changing immigration laws.

Just Say No to Burnout with Karenna Soto

Ep #65 - Burnout isn't a gold medal earned at the Exhaustion Olympics. It's totally avoidable, but in our hustle culture, we often wear exhaustion like a badge of honor. Trust that there's nothing honorable about sacrificing your health. Take it from someone who has suffered the consequences!
Us childfree Latinas are especially susceptible to this because we're raised to thrive on resiliency, sacrifice, and people pleasing. For many of us, that's how our parents (and their parents) survived so that's all they know. And because we're childfree, people take for granted that we have additional time and/or energy available to work even harder.
It's time to change this rigged game. Success shouldn't come at the expense of your well-being. Let's figure out how to work within our capacity limits, not against them.
In this episode, guest Karenna Soto will show you:

  1. How to recognize physical and emotional signals, set boundaries, and prioritize self-care to escape hustle culture and make time for yourself.
  2. The importance of regularly checking in with your body, emotions, and energy levels to gauge your "battery life" and prioritize tasks to avoid burnout.
  3. Why making internal shifts, setting boundaries, and focusing on your health might feel uncomfortable, but are essential for thriving in a demanding world and building true resilience.

Get from burnout into balance with these tools and strategies for a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle.
