Kids, what are we watching tonight?

Once Upon A Time ...... In an overly 80's Santa Clara, there was a Vampire problem.
Michael, who has just moved to the town with his family, meets David and his friends, who are not what they seem, all because he has the hots for Star. It's up to his brother Sam and the Frog Brothers, a couple of comic shop workers, to save Michael, and the town.

Everyone who was anyone in the 80's watched the Lost Boys. It was the definitive vampire movie of the decade....is WAS the 80's - we discuss how 80's it is!!. But how does it stand up against modern sparkly vampires, and against modern horror films - is it even considered a horror film.
As our TOP 100 Movie Challenge continues, we look at the fashion, the gore and talk about the music. Does this deserve to be on a 'Classic' film list?. Listen in and find out, and if you enjoyed the show please leave a review in Podchaser - it helps us grown and makes us look good. Otherwise please review us wherever you listen to us.

For this episode based on Black History I'm going back to the Detroit Riots of 1947, something I knew nothing about, and the murder of two young black men.
The start of the film is interspersed with real footage from the streets and news reels, showing what was happening at the time and how things escalated, and this definitely lends a sense of legitimacy to the film. Then its the roller coaster ride of what happened next.
A brave, but sadly not profitable film, though its been well received by critics and fans alike. if you enjoyed the show please leave a review in Podchaser - it helps us grown and makes us look good. Otherwise please review us wherever you listen to us.

Once upon a time ...... There was a water ride at a Disney theme park that someone thought would make a good film (??!?!), so they grabbed a pen and some paper, and set about writing a script filled with curses, pirates, love and swashbuckling.
The film was very OTT, everyone loved the main character who was a drunken bum, there was indeed swashbuckling, rum, love, curses, pirates, rum and strumpets, and thus began a franchise.

This week, our TOP 100 Movie Challenge continues as we talk about Captain Jack Sparrow, Barbosa, Norrington, Turner, Swan, over inflated budgets and rum. Uncle Argyle tells us a story, we talk Bang For Your Buck and play Are you Not Entertained!!. Here's the handy link to our original episode on Pirates 1, 2, 3 (4 & 5). If you enjoyed either show please leave a review in Podchaser - it helps us grown and makes us look good. Otherwise please review us wherever you listen to us.
