Kidneys are Bean shaped organs located on both sides of the backbone in the lower part of our back. Kidneys filter blood on a 24x7 basis and in a day may process approx. 200 litres of blood.

Key functions of Kidneys are :-

Remove extra fluid and waste materials like Urea & Creatinine from the blood stream.
Excess fluid is removed from the body in form of urine.
Manage the optimum level of various compounds in the body.
Release compounds/hormones like
1. Erythropoietin - To control the production of red blood cells
2. Renin - to help in controlling blood pressure levels
3. Calcitriol - to help the absorption of calcium in the body
