Kick It With Katie: A Soccer Podcast

Send us a text

In my interview with Breenan Neeley, he shares his love for soccer and how he has had family by his side during many teams he has been on, whether it's cousins or his brother. He shares experiences moving from a second team to a first team as a youth player and continuing to work hard to become a starter for that new team. His Sparta team was able to travel abroad to play in Spain for a week and train at the Real Madrid facilities and he shares some stories and experiences from that trip. Currently a collegiate player at Westminster in Utah, he talks about some relationships he made early in his youth career that helped him get to play for this school and why that was important to him. Brennan was also at the Real Salt Lake Academy for a brief time and shares his stories as to why the academy wasn't for him at that time. Brennan also does personal training, so if you're interested reach out to him on his Instagram and see what he is up to.

In part one of my interview with scout, Brooks Laimbeer, we discuss some of his playing career and how he wanted to stay in the sport of soccer when his career was winding down. He has found a way to stay in the game by becoming a Midwest region scout with The Soccer Syndicate. We talk about his role as a scout and what his job essentially is for those that may not know what scouts actually do. We cover a lot of important topics parents want to know going into academy and college recruiting ages. When should we contact schools? Should my kid play up? How important is it to be a starter? What do scouts look for in players? Because we cover a lot of great and important information, this interview has been broken up into two parts. Stay tuned for the rest of our conversation next week!
Brooks is also one of the hosts of the We Are Soccer Show. Be sure to check out their show on Sunday nights when they discuss the professional game around the world.
